So many things wrong with the story but above it all I appreciate Marcus Hayes taking time to go get quotes from D.J.
More than anyone else is doing.

Looks like he had Tyreek and Tyrone's names confused in he beginning of the article. The names should have been switched.

The story has a few errors (mixing up Tyreek and Tyrone for example. posting Tyreek's pic on the article instead of DJ to name a few), but all in all, it's a good article. Angry Al has the lone comment on the article and predictably, he's a little angry.

No photo with column.

angry al put a comment after the story. I know my man is angry but you should not put that up like that where DJ could read it. I am sure he wants to read a story on himslef and will see that which he shouldn't have to read IMO. 95% of the fans are thrilled he is staying. Feel bad he would see that.

Yeah, that was an asshole enough comment to post here about one of our own guys. Great work broadcasting it further.

His family will read it as well I'm sure, which is a real shame. I'm happy to have him back.

Honestly, I would've rather had the scholarship back over having D.J. back.
I thought he was going to be something when I first saw him, but he mishandles the ball a lot, misses easy lay-ups too much, and just plays too much like Edward Scissorhands for my liking.
It's OK that he's back, but given a choice, I would've rather tried a new recruit. angryal, you went over the top. and as an active member of the explorer looneyverse, who in your spare time rebroadcasts your derogatory messages on philly.com, your credibility is forever lost. but it doesn't help your argument at all that you talk about a player with the 3.65 Assist to turnover ratio, who is by far the #1 in that cateogry on our team, as a "ball handling" liability. He played 102 minutes in the NCAA tournament with exactly ONE turnover, which occurred in the loss to Wichita State. Fortunately, DJ is surrounded at La Salle by friends and people who care about him and we're all glad he stayed, not just because of his great numbers but because of his unselfish role on our team. I expect DJ should be able to take the rare asinine comments by angryal with a mountain of salt, since they are unfounded and untrue.

Hykos don't let AA upset you because anyone who cares to pay attention recognizes J.D.'s value to the team.

You certainly wish MH could be more "with it" regarding accurate details, but its nice to see the attention given here to the DJ situation.
KJMAC, did a great job of pointing out DJ's vital importance for us to run the 4 guard O in another thread. MH also makes the same point here. I am so pleased to have 2 more years (hopefully) of a character guy like DJ.

I was glad to see Marcus write the story, but mentioning Sam Mills may have helped. And welcome back, DJ.

I read the article by Marcus Hayes. Nice piece but a few personal things weren't mentioned(and won't be mentioned by me either) for DJ's thinking about transferring back home. I can refute there was NO altercation. Those posts may be the darkest time on this board. What a shame.
I did like MH's quote about DJ's defensive ability to guard BOTH guard and forward positions. Funny that I said that months ago. G saying that at the banquet and now Marcus Hayes. I hope some people (who haven't been heard from since DJ announcing he is returning)will see their opinion was wrong.

You're right, DJ can guard both the guard and the forward positions...the SG and the SF. He absolutely cannot guard the Poward Forward. You put a 6'5 190lb guy on a 6'8 230lb guy and you're asking to get abused...that's not a knock on him. It's an unfair request...

Maybe not 100% of the games and 100% of the times but for what we need he filled the role. Especially when we switch on defense.
I am glad DJ's back. Every successful team needs a garbage man or role player. He fits for what we need. He will never be a scorer but that's not what we need.

I agree he's been very valuable and plays his role well, but we're not talking about his scoring ability here. We're talking about defense and you should never ask him to guard the 4 unless it is out of necessity (ie. big men are sitting with foul trouble, injuries). Basically, only when our hand is forced or if the opposing team is playing with a similar lineup where the 4 is really a guard or SF. It's a complete and total mismatch (from jump) and good teams will attack it and be successful.

First paragraph was in response to your comments. I addressed his defense and role almost exclusively. I only added him not being a scorer to strengthen my statement about his role (defense, solid ball handling and decision making).
Again, our hand was forced when Steve got hurt. DJ played against much bigger players and "as you can see he held his own" to steal a line from Jerrell. He is a unique defensive player. I can't think of another college player this season who did what he did. Anyone care to help me on that?
Done.
