Listed below are the 10 Commandments for this board: (Thanks to Explorer88 on the Scout.com board...where I stole them)

i. - Boys will be Boys, La Salle Boys will be Gentlemen (Applies to Women as well)

Keep your interactions classy, show respect, and please remember to watch the language. We have people of all ages all over the site and want to keep things appropriate for everyone.

ii. - You are not always right and they are not always wrong.


Debate is welcome and even encouraged. We only ask that you back up your opinions and thoughts with intelligence and facts. Please avoid the name calling and personal attacks they don't help the effectiveness or intelligence of any arguments. This is not a rumor mill, please do not treat it as such.

iii. - Poor language makes you look uneducated, not cool.

There is absolutely no need for it. Substitution of 1 or 2 characters isn't sufficient - please use appropriate language.

iv. - Don't be a Jerk

Posts intended only to inflame La Salle fans will be deleted. If you see such a post, please don’t respond to it as it only detracts from the quality of discussion on the board. Those that bring nothing to the board except unchecked anger will be banned.

v. - Do not attack individuals.

These players represent us. Please keep talk about their character, personality, and life outside of basketball to a minimum. When evidence exists of a character deficiency, please keep discussion to those facts.

vi. - This is the 21st Century. Act like it.

No cruel comments about a race, ethnic background, or heritage.

vii. - Anonymity is a choice. Respect it.

No posting information about other posters unless you have that persons permission to post it. If they are out of line and breaking one of these commandments, they will be moderated.

viii. - I understand, this is the Internet, but please write coherently.

If you are attempting to post an idea, theory, comment or rumor, please realize that it is much harder to read when poor or no grammar is used. Spelling mistakes do happen and one should not be attacked for them. However, use what we learned in Writing 101 and keep the discussion neat and clean.

We ask that all customers and visitors obey these set commandments. Those who who don't face anything from a warning to a loss of posting privileges. These rules are merely guidelines and are subject to change according to the moderators' discretion, as they see fit.

Apologies for the delay on this. Let me start by saying that I had discussed this with a couple other moderators and board members MONTHS ago, but not recently. This is a decision that I am making independently and hopefully most of you will find it a harmless note on our rules listed above. Three bullet points:

How we treat players and coaches

I had some discussions with people not on this board but connected to the program during the hiring process that were very eye opening for me. Basically, our little world here is not just our own. While it is mandatory to sign up to post something, reading this board is free and apparently a lot of people do. I have heard of two distinct instances where La Salle was crossed off of a list because of this board. Is that true? Don't know. But I trust the people that I talked to. 

That said, this is a fan board for a sports team of adults. Students, yes, but still adults performing at a very high level doing something they are rewarded to do. Our fandom doesn't "pay the bills" but it is significant within the program. 

So with that in mind, I am going to be policing overly negative comments in a different way than I have before.

"NOW JOE," you might say, "WEREN'T YOU JUST NEGATIVE ABOUT CHRISTIAN RAY!"

And I'd say that yes, I was, but I provided a (I believe) reasoned point of view with evidence to back up my point. There is a difference between saying that I didn't believe a player was an A10 caliber player and just "HE STINKS" over and over. That's what I'm trying to avoid...the overtly negative comments that do not provide thought and reason. Hope that makes sense.

How we talk about the school

This is a tough one because I have, at times long ago, been very tough on the school. That said, similar to the topic above, the way that we talk about La Salle as a whole has to be more positive. I defended Colleen when she was here, sometimes I'll admit probably too much, but some of the attacks on her did not paint the school in a good light. 

I understand that we talk about free speech a lot these days, but we also need to keep in mind that prospective recruits and students and their parents are visiting this board. So while I encourage discussions regarding things going on at the school, I do ask that we limit our discussions to the decisions, their effects and our opinions on the outcomes. We do not need to attack administrators or faculty directly in any way. If you disagree with something somebody said or did, disagree with that thing. 

Attacks on people for doing their job will not be tolerated.

Politics

The state of politics is going to get worse before it gets better. We're on a zero tolerance policy for political speech on this board. You can scream into the abyss in the unmoderated board if you like, but we will not be doing it here. If something is indirectly political (see: COVID restriction discussion), the line will be that as long as we stay on that indirect topic and doesn't move into talking about politicians or political parties...that will be fine. Providing actual evidence will enhance the chance that your post remains, but when we creep into accusatory language and it is clear that we're heading into a red/blue divide...the whole thing will be deleted. 

This goes for me too. And if you feel like I said something that broke this rule, I ask that you please send me a private message telling me so.

The initial result of breaking the above three rules will be that I will delete them and send you a PM saying that I did so (unless if it was obvious...which means you won't get a PM). Continuing to break these rules will result in a discussion about whether or not this is the place for you.
