I won't try to link the individual article because of the messed up Wilmington News Journal system but Delaware's best sportwwriter, Kevin Tresolini of the Wilmington News Journal, speculates in his column this AM that the Hens may jump from the CAA to the A-10 in June. For some reason there won't be a penalty for them after the last CAA conference tourney is over. Tres is a damn good reporter and my sense is that he has been fed the story by UD officials to see if there is any blow back from alums. I would love t see this happen. www.delawareonline.com

Wonder how that would work for them with football? I'd rather have Siena, but I could live with UDel.

I know why Delaware would want the A10. I don't see any evidence in this article that the A10 wants Delaware.

....and it is wishful thinking on my part, as well. The CAA is falling apart. DE would stay in the Colonial Football Conference which is the 1-AA grouping....whatever it is called now. The A-10 would be a nice fit fit for UD. If you read the article closely you will see that Tres says that UD spurned the A-10 before because there were too many Catholic schools. Was that prejudice? I am not sure. The UD board of trustees has changed a lot in the last 20 years. Old Delaware Joke: Question: Do you know how we make progress in Delaware? Answer: One Funeral at a time.

Not sure why the a10 wouldn't want Delaware. They are a pretty decent academic school. Good facilities. The get a very good turnout for their women's hoops the last few years. Comparable enrollment. Location fits the A10.
I think Davidson, despite their recent basketball success is a more confusing choice. 1500 students is a pretty darn small school.

delaware is a state university with about 19,000 undergrads. their school of engineering is one of the best in the nation. they have a nice basketball facility but have never really showed any commitment to men's basketball and I don't understand why. they sell out for women's basketball but that is because they lucked out on delle donne. just 45 miles from philly and a small town campus that might as well be 450 miles away. i would have tried to get valparaiso and bradley actually. u of d doesn't really have much interest in a good men's basketball program.

I have to agree with baab on this one. I don't think they're a good fit for the league. The last time they were semi-relevant was with Mike Brey. In my opinion, they would be a perennial bottom feeder. The league can do better than UD.

This quote from the article kind of tells me that UD is knocking on the A-10 Door... and that the writer is actually fronting for the University.
"Ziady helped steer Boston College’s move from the Big East to the Atlantic Coast Conference. He is well-versed in the benefits of such a switch and how to reap them."
Other than the personal convenience aspect it doesn't mean too much to me.
Brey's tenure as the Blue Hen Men's coach was the golden era of UD basketball.

Can't see A10 adding Delaware or Drexel... we need to add a team in Boston market if UMass bolts for football.
Saint Louis will try to get to the new Big Least where they will be traveling closer to their home. The A10 has a golden opportunity to beat up on the Big Least in OOC games.

You don't add teams for the sake of replacing a team in a particular area. Outside of UMass, what school is appealing to the A10? Boston? Northeastern? Neither are good or bring anything to the table. I understand the media market, but I don't like either program.

Its worth noting that UMass brings the Boston market like Scranton would bring the Philadelphia market. Boston would be great to get into, not something we need to stay in because we aren't in.
