I noticed on NJ.COM this AM that Nurideen Lindsey is leaving Rider and turning pro. It appears he lost his starting position this past season for various reasons.

I feel real bad for the kid. He looked completely beaten down when we played them. He has a lot of people in his ear, I think. We all know his story and how much pressure he must have put on himself.
His family/friends were REALLY nice. I was talking w/ them a bit at that game.
Hope he does well.

I can't help but think about guys like him and Karon Burton and wish they would've made better choices in life.

Granted there's a lot of Lindsay's story I don't know, but wouldn't saying Lindsey should have made better choices mean "don't be born into the same situation". No arrests or anything like that. Seems like the kind of kid who could most benefit from heading overseas to play.

I'm not saying La Salle was the answer but maybe he would have been better served somewhere other than saint johns after all his people in his ear were telling him how great he was. I don't know his whole story either but to bounce around high schools and colleges like he did isn't just a a matter of the circumstances he was born into.

I watched him briefly while he played in a game while at St. John's, and really liked his game. He was really never in the right situation. Too much moving around, different teams, etc. I think with a little stability, and some good coaching, he can really make a name for himself in the pros. Appeared to be pretty smooth on the court.

Said this is a decision he made a while back, wants to support his family financially. Can only wish him all the best. Kids got a lot on his plate.

Seems like a story of a kid who just never was comfortable in the places he was in and is still looking for where he needs/wants to be
