Some of the national pundits seem to think we lucked our way in to the Sweet16 instead of willed it. Even though we had an extra round than everybody else, the first four in team is always treated with suspicion. Maybe if there were not a firstfour they would have given either Boise or La Salle the 13 seed automatically. We being in the better conference and beating Boise on neutral floor had to earn our 13 seed and we did.
Good teams always rely on a little bit of luck. But the seeds are deceiving. Not much difference between a 9 and a 12 and a 13. Also it was a favor not to have to play Wisconsin and gonzaga but their replacements are no cakewalks either. We ran into one of the hottest teams if you see ole miss record lately.
As for the "wichita vs la salle for the elite eight" comments well that is why I love the game. We could just let the 1 thru 4 seeds play the first round and invite 16 teams if the suggestion is that no one else is capable or worthy.

If La Salle has been lucky all i have to say is--------- it is about time.
I must admit, I am sure glad we are saving playing the top 10 teams for last!

No one lucks their way into the Sweet 16. And even if they did, we're getting money, publicity, a huge bump in merchandising, and are the talk of the region right now. I'll take that whatever way I can get it.

Luck? Winning 3 games in 5 days is not luck. Playing at 9PM on Wednesday in Dayton, flying into KC at 4:00 AM on Thursday, then playing at 3PM against K-STATE in KC on Friday, then again at 8:15 PM on Sunday night. Its grit. Not Luck.

Yes we have been very fortunate playing bad teams like Boise St.(21 wins), Kansas St. #12 or #14 in country (27 wins), Ole Miss (winner of SEC Tourny - 27 wins) and now Wichita St. who just beat #1 in country. Thank goodness we didn't have to play any winning programs. 3 wins which is one more than the remaining 15 teams.

I haven't been following the national pundits - I've just been trying to soak up all the local media. They have been very positive.
I don't want to hear the misguided and uninformed negativity from the national folks.

La Salle has been fortunate but it isn't like they didn't earn anything. All of the wins were nice but consider that Boise St. was the 5th best team from a conference that has looked like crap in the tournament. K State was the worst 4 seed in the bunch out of St. Louis, Michigan and Syracuse. Ole Miss wasn't even considered for a spot in the tournament before they won the SEC tournament. Have the explorers gotten a favorable draw? Yes. Does it matter? No. They have won the games they played in and that's all anyone can ask for.

LUCK = when preparation meets opportunity. We were prepared. We seized the opportunity. We beat who was in front of us. Whoever is left standing tomorrow will meet on Sat. Win and advance. Tom Izzo said you need some luck in this tourny. Lucky 13!
