Thanks 89. Can't see them going any larger than 5k, realistically. Never questioned Bro. Mike's desire to plop a an arena down on campus, but this is no small task. Encouraging to hear that we've got warm bodies thinking about this though.

Kansas could have used the SW Philly floater on their last shot. Wichita is the only Kansas school left. Who would have thought this? Can't wait until next year

Have said it a thousand times. Filling Gola should have nothing to do with getting a new arena.
You build the arena to give you a chance to experience what we just experienced more often. The facility attracts the better players and helps you keep your coach. It is simple as that. You build the arena to invest in your program and believe a successful program benefits your school. If you can't see that you just don't get

If you can't see that you just don't get At the Temple game, I talked to a few people who said they would love to go back for games more often on campus but they hate having to watch the team in high school gym so they go to Nova, the Palestra, Temple etc. The arena is a part of the attraction.

Sorry but I hit post before I wanted to.
I guess and suspected the BOT never got it which is terribly sad for us and La Salle as a whole because it would be nice to experience this more often. It was obvious the La Salle community was starving for what we just got over the past 2 weeks but the blind dopes on the BOT are blind to see it.
Glad to hear Brother Mike wants the arena. I just wish he could sell it better.

I kiddingly say start a Kickstarter for a new arena. But hey, with this recent attention, you never know.. At least it'd be visible how much money is coming in vs. the Explorer Fund.

That's all cool, and I really appreciate you sharing. I get we are playing against the big boys money-wise and we need donations, etc. But it does also need to be pointed out that the incoming Freshman next year, living in a dorm room, is going to be paying roughly 45,000 dollars a year in just tuition and room and board. It's not like the only students are orphans that the school is educating out of some Christian charity. $45,000? My daughter attends St Mary's Indiana. Cost = 57,000. Plus plus. They don't have D 1 sports. La Salle is still a big bargain. I will bet 70% of students are on some sort of financial aid in spite of the relatively low tuition , R&B.

La Salle actually awards financial aid and scholarships to over 90% of all incoming freshman. It's actually quite incredible, really.

88 your thoughts need to be put down in writing and submitted to the board. Include solutions as well. What we can do is raise money for the Explorer Club. If we can start getting charter flights paid for, more trips for the players, and help G compete with the big boys we will be better off. If we can get 100 guys to give $1000 that would be a nice bit of change to start. Times are tough. Lets give what we can. Lets do our part to keep this going. Btw 35 million was the number for the arena.

90 %. Getting financial aid is amazing! Well, that is the philosophy of the Christian Brothers, educate the poor. Let the Jesuits and Augustinians sick up to the rich; I'm a Brothers Boy forever!

Well you're certainly poor after you leave, so it's kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy.

If you can't see that you just don't get I don't think anyone including Br Mike disagrees with you. I think what Bro Mike is saying is that in order for the dolts that sit on the BOT to listen to his sales pitch he needs to demonstrate the interest in the program. However, this run and the near-riot in the streets by the students, the national acclaim/exposure, the local media blitz and the social network explosion it caused for the La Salle alumni community should drive home the point much better than any attendance figures in a box score. Seriously, if I'm Bro Mike I get someone to pull for me the Twitter mentions and Facebook posts with La Salle in there and present it to the BOT. A lot of the guys on here aren't fully plugged into this stuff and I don't think fully appreciate the impact that stuff has on a business but the fact that we were trending nationally on Twitter after the K-State game is huge. Throw in the number of people on Facebook that were puffing out their chests about being La Salle alums and it's incredibly easy to see how many people wanted this to happen and that feel more connected to their alma mater now more than ever before. My suspicion is that the BOT will only really start to listen when they are presented with the application stats in terms of growth.

My suspicion is that the BOT will only really start to listen when they are presented with the application stats in terms of growth. Others have said it hoopsfan so I think others do believe that. That thinking is way off base IMO. Frankly I can't understand it at all. As I said in a previous post, I think it is great if Brother Mike wants a new arena but as president he has to be the one to lead the charge to help sell it. Just because he wants it means zero in the scheme of things. Selling it is just as important. If he can't do it, than find someone who can help sell it to the clowns in the BOT in the the simplest terms as it seems that is all they seem to understand. Hell if there are some people on BOT that "get it" they should be helping Brother Mike sell it to their peers who obviously " don't get it". The bottom line is until something is actually done instead of pounding the chest with talk we are still required to play in a facility that looks worse than many high school gyms. It is hiddeous on TV and makes us look small time. Sorry but a committed administration gets this done. PERIOD!!!!

Perhaps we need to let the BOT know...
