silly question but how do the explorers compare to Creighton? Creighton beat WS a couple of times this year.

If the team we are playing against has more athletic players down low (Reminder of the Ole Miss Pregame analysis) but do not have the shooters from perimeter.. Why don't we play a zone? It seems their 3 pt shooting against Gonzaga was an anomaly..
A half court press against a team that is relatively young and turns the ball over... It seems like the right play here...
And the rebounding advantage, while I think they do have an advantage I do think it is overblown.. Yes they are 27th in country but frankly haven't played that many teams that would propose a threat on the glass.. MVC does not compare to the A-10 in terms of front courts.. Pittsburgh was close, Gonzaga won the glass, VCU was close...

Jeff Borzello and Jeff Goodman from CBS picked La Salle straight up. There's not many out there picking La Salle to win. They each have picked La Salle straight up in each round too. FWIW, Goodman is 38-14 and Borzello is 32-20 overall.

Jay Bilas on PTI now. I'm sure he'll say neither us or Wichita has a shot after this, and then pick Wichita.

Bilas just picked us, and Wilbon did too. Wilbon talked up Ramon also.

silly question but how do the explorers compare to Creighton? Creighton beat WS a couple of times this year. Overly analytical comparison between Creighton and La Salle: Creighton is a rather slow team that shoots very well from the perimeter and has two strong post players in Greg Echenique and Doug McDermott. McDermott is a national player of the year candidate for the second straight year, an All-American, conference POY, etc., etc. He's ranked #2 in the nation in points per game ... meanwhile he averages between 5 and 7 less minutes per game than everyone else in the top 7. Echenique, meanwhile, was all-conference defensive team. Both McDermott and Echenique were two of the best defensive rebounders in the sport, with I believe both ranked in the top 75 nationally. Creighton ranks significantly higher than La Salle in most offensive categories ... points per game (Creighton is 24th), offensive efficiency (Creighton is 5th nationally), shooting % (Creighton is 1st nationally), 3 point % (1st nationally). They're a top 5 offensive team, although they shot terribly against Duke in the third round. La Salle meanwhile ranks between 29-62 in most of those same categories. They're not nearly as good defensively, although significantly better than last year and still ahead of La Salle in most categories ... 79th in opponents points per game (LS 151), 101st in defensive efficiency (LS 132). Rebounding is bizarre ... they're ranked 308th in offensive rebounds (LS 237), but they're ranked 7th in defensive rebounds (LS 297). Nearly identical SOSs ... La Salle 77, Creighton 82. Just as a note, this is a team that shot over 70% in one of the two games they beat us in. And we're a top 25 defense nationally. Statistically, Creighton is better offensively, defensively, and in rebounding. Statistics don't mean a ton at this stage, of course, though >=)
