G was on with Jon Rothstein and said Zack is less than 50-50 to play Thursday. We may need him for the Final 4.

It was a good sign that he didn't have the crutches against Ole Miss. I once fractured a foot and had it in a walking boot and the most underrated effect is the muscles in your calf, ankle and foot aren't getting used when in the boot. Even once it comes off there's a strengthening period that needs to happen for daily use not close to NCAA tournament action

So was it a sprain or was La Salle following the Phillies tradition of less then honest reports on injuries?

Flyers would have called it a lower body injury and not confirmed it was his foot even though we could see the boot

I opened my local newspaper and it has a half story on..... You guessed it ,Wichita State ,complete with picture. I live in the Lehigh Valley and this is what I get. LaSalle got the 3 paragraph side column. We need to keep winning . I learned that the Shickers went to the Sweet16 in 2006 and he Final 4 in 1965. Anyway we need Zack. Even for 12 minutes. Dunn is overmatched.

Sounds like la Salle could really use Zack. From thread by Crazeeguy:

Put Zack out on the practice floor to see what his pain tolerance is. If he can deal with it then we can use him in 4 minute spurts. We will need him on Saturday against #2 seed Ohio State or # 6 seed Arizona so he needs to get out there and test it today.

Sounds like la Salle could really use Zack. From thread by Crazeeguy: If you watched their game against Gonzaga, they appear to be methodically slow and patient. I don't think they can handle our pressure or speed.

And Gonzaga crushed them on the boards too.

Witchita State doesn't the play athletes we play.. The A-10 is one of the elite rebounding conferences in the country..
I mean did you see the beat down Temple did on Indiana in rebounding/offensive glass... It was the only reason why they were close...

So was it a sprain or was La Salle following the Phillies tradition of less then honest reports on injuries? Via my sources, it was a severe foot sprain typically a 4 week injury at minimum We would be at week 3 but I agree give it a quick test.. On reason to push.. This is why we need a Hyperbaric chamber.. A big at that :-) .. 50% recovery time

We're 4 victories away from a National Championship (wow, let that sink in for a minute). We have changed gears from "House Money" to actually starting to think we can win a Championship. At this point, yes, I would risk losing him for next year to try to accomplish something this year. I don't mean that to sound mercenary, but this is the closest we're likely to get for a long time.

Listen, I love this ride more than anyone, but let's be real here. There's a big difference between, Duke, Indiana, Miami and La Salle. We got crushed by Miami earlier this year when the team was 100%, adding Zack to the mix would be nice b/c then we wouldn't be stuck wondering what could've been, but I think we already know.
If he re-injures or makes it worse and needs off season surgery he won't be ready in November and we will be a step behind right out of the gate. If we want to do this again next year, need him to be healthy.

Wichita State won AT VCU very early in the season. They probably have better athletes than some give them credit for.

Hoopsfan Miami has a chance to win title and if they were playing at the same level they were back when they played us and Duke I would pick them but the are not and probably will lose to Indiana in Elite 8. Being realistic I can see us beating Wicita St. but not Arizona or Ohio St.

I would love to have him play Thursday, but not at the risk of him hurting himself worse and being out early next year. Even if he's back by next year, but he needed off season surgery because he played on Thursday, he'd lose the whole summer at the very least. Let him rest.

Spoken by someone who clearly does not have the interest of the student-athlete in mind. Pardon but can you be a bit more selfish.

Any team that can handle VCU's havoc style is probably not given enough credit then, particularly with those numbers of turnovers.

Zack did cardio today for the first time in 3.5 weeks. When asked if he is suiting up, he replied "confidential information".
