Only Michigan/Kansas with a tighter line.

Can you imagine the money you'd have if you had just bet the moneyline on us and rolled it over.

La Salle is now 66 - 1 to bring home the title. Also, we are 9 - 1 to make the Final Four.

Should have plunked down 10 on 50,000 - 1.

FWIW, Pitt was favored by 4.5 over the Shocks and Gonzaga was favored by 6.5 . . .

I would worry too much. Borzello has been a huge supporter all year. Picked us to win A-10, had us as a 10 seed in NCAA, picked us to beat K-State before the Boise game.

Keep in mind that's a ranking of #16... out of a total 345 DI teams. Plus, we love flying under the radar. It's our M.O.

We're 3-0 in the past two decades in the tourney when there's been a line on our game. Bet us hard.

My friend knows the spread stuff really well. I was talking with him about the Ole Miss spread. There's so much more dumb money involved in the tournament compared to a regular season game that the spread's pretty much a useless indicator.

When I was watching the Wichita State vs. Gonzaga game it reminded me of the commercial where they state "256 teams are in the tournament" and then they show the short white guys stating "we're in!"
Both them and Gonzaga looked very slow to me. Don't think they can handle pressure nor speed very well.

This is going to be a battle. if you're tired of late game, critical possessions you probably don't want to watch this game.

La Salle vs. Wichita State Preview: broadstbeat.blogspot.com/2013/03/la-salle-vs-wichita-state-preview.htmlThis game is going to be very interesting, as the Shockers leading scorers are both big-men (6'8") who not surprisingly also lead them in rebounds. As far as I've heard Steve Zack is still out correct? If so it will be interesting to see how Jerrell and the Explorers try to handle the 27th ranked rebounding team in the nation (38.4 rpg). The Explorers will definitely need some sharp perimeter shooting from Ramon, Tyreek, and Tyrone to make up for the lack of size, but can counter the Shockers advantage with their athleticism and speed in trasition. It's going to be an awesome game, who will the clock strike midnight on? Go Explorers!

maybe if the Explos can get good spacing and draw their bigs away from the basket it will help out a little bit on the glass.
On defense, a big key will be denying their ability to pass the ball inside from the perimeter. Plus, if our guys get it going on offense, WSU might have no choice but to go a little smaller in order to keep up.

We need to bring our defensive intensity and quickness on Defense which will lead us to fast break baskets on the other end.
Zack may actually be available... G can evaluate in him in practice these next couple of days.

If we're not getting shots blocked I hope our offense keeps up with the current rhythm. Speed should again be our advantage.
Does Wichita turn it over much? Maybe we can get transition buckets. We haven't gotten an abundance in the tournament (which makes sense given the quality opponents).

As good as La Salle is, WSU shouldn't have a problem with the Explorer's or speed. WSU guards are plenty good and fast.

No disrespect to WSU, but ask any of the opposing coaches that faced our squad at how surprised they have been with our speed once they see us in person. Tyrone Garland is probably the quickest guy left in the tourney.
The advantage we have been able to gain over bigger opponents is ball movement until someone is slow to close out on an open shooter, when a team goes with a traditional lineup we are usually able to get a matchup where a PF has to close out on a wide open corner shooter leaving the area around the basket open for either another pass or a drive to the basket. As the SW Philly Floater demonstrates, our guys aren't afraid to go in for contact.

Would really like tyreek to take more shots from outside. I know he picks and chooses his opportunities well, but I can't help but imagine the chaos is would cause the Shockers. Tyreek starts hitting, and then they'll really be stretched thin with Galloway and Garland left.
Hell, let's see Sam take a few more chances. He's been pretty hot since Boise. 9-14 from three.

I don't know a lot about Witchita State but I know this spread is not a true line. Regular season A-10 games where real bettors can move lines because the handle is so low I pay attention to. March Madness they are just guessing where the public will bet.. Witch beat Gonzaga and no one knows La Salle.. True line is probably Shockers -2.

I don't know if Witchita State has seen a team as fast as us. Gonzaga plays a slow style game. This is a whole new season and the lines in Vegas don't seem to mean that much. Lines are usually controlled by the wagers... Vegas casinos are not in business to lose money.

Both them and Gonzaga looked very slow to me. Don't think they can handle pressure nor speed very well. Hey there ... Wichita State fan that's been lurking by you guy's forums I'm really not sure why so many of you guys think Wichita State is loaded with slow white guys, but if you could pass that information on to your coaches, I'd really appreciate it. Don't worry that we only have two white guys on our 11 man roster, and one of them plays less than 10 minutes a game. Just tell them you have us figured out >=) Seriously, though, WSU has a starting lineup of Armstead, Orukpe, Baker, Hall, and Cotton. One of those guys is white, and he might be the fastest player on our team. Early is first off the bench. Fred Van Vleet (I believe he's Hispanic) is the backup PG, and gets plenty of minutes. Williams is normally a starter but is having knee problems, so he'll come off the bench. Nick Wiggins, brother of the #1 recruit in the country, checks in at #9. Jake White is #10 on the team, and the only other white guy healthy on the team. Lufile is #11. If you want to make it an issue of race, we play 8 black guys, 2 white, 1 Hispanic. Not sure who you're watching, but I hope your coaching staff is watching them too. I'm concerned about you guys' pressure and speed, without a doubt ... it'd be crazy not to respect your strong points when you're a Sweet 16 team. However, I was also concerned about how we'd handle Detroit's pressure and speed. Might want to go catch that game on ESPN3 if you want to see how we react to speed. For what it's worth, Detroit was 9th in the country in scoring, averaged 8 steals a game, and averaged 3.5 more possessions per game than La Salle ... we scored 94 and had 3 balls stolen. You guys are undoubtedly better than Detroit, but we do just fine with speed. It's when teams slow us down that I get worried. Best of luck. It's going to be a great game, and I can't wait for it.

Ryano, your points are Well taken.
I watched the zag game. Wichita is a lot like la salle. Fast strong confident guards. I think you would agree ours are more skilled offensively, but you guys can get hot quick. Especially the Spanish kid off bench and white starter who can shoot. I like your big men buy didn't see them play low a lot last game. I think this game is going to be evenly matched and the team that wins will be the one to hit more threes.
