GW is playing for their Brooklyn lives. They are most definitely going to bring it on Wednesday. Granted, we're playing for our NCAA lives and will undoubtedly bring it too, but this is no pushover.

That's the one scenario where us getting a bye really hurts if we have to play Butler right off the bat

Also, we need only 2 games to go the right way to control your own destiny: X wins at home vs St. Louis this Wednesday Temple wins at home vs VCU on Sunday Granted, La Salle winning at St. Louis is a stretch, but still.
I think if we beat GW, X beats SLU, and we beat SLU, then VCU will be playing Temple for the outright title. I'm not sure if they lose in that spot with that on the line.

We need to really find a way to get the #3 seed because here's the alternative:
#3 seed - Bye, UMass/St. Bonaventure, VCU/Richmond/Xavier, Championship #4 seed - Bye, Butler/Charlotte, St. Louis/Dayton/St. Joe's, Championship
Having to go through Butler and St. Louis is a horrible draw and I'd take UMass and VCU over that any day

We can beat them again but would rather player SJU/Dayton winner or UMASS/Bonnie winner. Regrdless the 1st game for us in Brooklyn will be no pushover and we will be on pins and needles for sure.

That's the one scenario where us getting a bye really hurts if we have to play Butler right off the bat If I am reading this correctly we may want that 3 spot. Like our chances against Bonnies/Mass. As mentioned have to take care of business with a motivated GW!

The 3 seed is ideal. Because Temple will probably be the 5, but Xavier is likely to fall to 7 or so, given their schedule. The 3 seed, which we get with a win, and a Temple loss to VCU, means playing probably a UMass, an SBU, St. Joe's, etc. Certainly all decent teams, but a step down from Butler or Temple.

Let's just win the next two games and not even have to worry about this.
Man, this is so nervewracking! Being upset about a crappy basketball program is a lot easier on the mind than "OMG WE MIGHT BE IN THE TOURNAMENT!"

Being upset about a crappy basketball program is a lot easier on the mind than "OMG WE MIGHT BE IN THE TOURNAMENT!" This is way, WAY more stressful than watching a team play out the string in late February after the SJU game. In some weird way, I miss the old days.

Nothing can change today. There's not even any games that can improve our RPI today, according to the Jerry Palm tool.

Haha umm..
Considering that I am extremely worried about the GW game, let alone the St Louis game... I would gladly take that....
GW is very good on the boards and out rebounded us that game and we are probably playing without our second leading rebounder...
Ughh.. Armwood and their army of 6'8 and 6'9 athletic forwards...

I too am concerned about the game, but for what it's worth, Realtime RPI predicts a 20 point win for the Explos. Zack played 27 minutes in our frist game and dropped 4 points and 7 rebounds on them.
If we can't find a way for Wright and Brown to make up at least SOME of that production, we've got bigger problems than we think with this team.
Steve is really important to this team, but we're not losing Tom Gola or Kenny Durrett and we're not playing Duke. If they can't find a way to get their mojo together against a really young team at home on Senior night playing for their NCAA lives then they don't deserve to be in the dance.
I expect Wright to have a big game. Other than the Temple game when he was apparently throwing up in Brother Ed's lap, the guy has been a beast since the SJU game. I think we can create more matchup problems for a team like GW with a lineup of Petersen, Wright, Galloway, Duren, Mills and run brown and Garland in there in the regular rotation and sparingly use Hunt.
key will be to again force some TOs and get the crowd going at home. The game will be closer than we like w/out Zack but an NCAA team should be able to win a home game against a team with a losing record even if their center that is not the foundation of the team is missing.

Good catch Hykos. Fixed above. Butler gets 4th seed based on head to head tiebreaker with Temple. Beyond that, I guestimated tiebreakers.
