Not really sure what the whining is about. It was a pickem. Not like we necessarily supposed to win that game. We had severely overachieved through 4 games, now were gonna pretend like we werent picked last in the A10? You guys are something else.
We also played exceptionally poorly and lost by 5. I'm actually taking some positives out of it

The good ol' eye test will tell anyone that watched the game that UC San Diego stinks. Vegas is better than most of us at this, so they thought it would be close, but if today's game is an indicator of the next 3.5 months, we're gonna be a 13 win team.
We can air some players out if you want to talk specifics, but I have a feeling this place will start to resemble a Sixers locker room, if we start doing that on November 21, in a college basketball season.

Didn't get to hear any of the game with work, but just saw the box score. Is that a hard place to shoot free throws or something? Both teams combined to shoot 59%...well below both teams' season averages.
6 assists on 15 turnovers? Ick. Hopefully they can correct that.

just got back from this game. Loved the comeback in the first half. The brief of it, just couldn't put together a sustained offense. Very disappointing we may have some troubling offensive deficits if this game is any indicator.
I sat in the middle of the UC crowd all 12 of them. I did not make many friends today. The La Salle ticket guy did not steer me very well when I purchased. Section 105 was supposed to be La Salle seating. 2 more games to go

Victorious I attended today as well. Was told we could sit where we wanted so I never looked at my seat location and just sat behind the La Salle bench.

I just got home from the game as well. I was really excited to see this team in person. What I saw was anything but exciting. This was one of the most frustrating performances I have seen. Before I point out just a couple of the deficiencies, I must say that today Mac was the only Explorer that came to play. He was impressive bringing good energy and effort and is more physical than Meech. I would actually like to see what this team looks like with both of them on the floor for a minute or two. Yea yea I know you cant take offense off the floor but today I didnt see an offense. I did see two of OUR guards slam into each other at the top of the key almost causing yet another turnover. This offense today was terrible. Everyone and I mean everyone stood around on the perimeter, no movement and too many one on one drives to the basket with the shot clock running down. I really dont think they run any offensive sets. Looks like playground ball and we just do not have the athletes for that style. This was a team we beat 8 out of 10 times. Why? Because we are better. Today, La Salle looked very slow and uninterested to be there. Im not even going to talk about the free throw shooting, just reference the box score. This was an embarrassing loss.

On the feed, the venue gives off Wildwood Convention Center vibes. Can you confirm this? Actually a pretty nice arena. With no seats behind one end and only second level behind the other I thought we might have the Gola Arena advantage but then I remembered 5 of our rotation players never played at Gola. Oh well!

Hey this was a tough loss today and there is a lot to learn from this loss. First reason why we loss is free throws shooting. We not winning no game if we shoot 58%(18\31). If we shot a least 70% from the line, we would won the game. Second and last reason why we lost is the turnovers. 14 turnovers is way to many to win a game. Shepherd and Marrero have to play better for us to win. We’ll be playing tomorrow and let get this win.

Got to agree Mac was a bright spot, best I have seen him look. Offensively, today was a big disappointment. The opposition ran an O that did a decent job of creating shots for guys IMO not generally good enough to create O on their own. We may have to do more of this particularly as the opposition we play gets tougher. Can anyone tell me about White's tech foul? Not disputing it but I did not see it. Fran pulled him after it happened and kept him out for a while. He is a difference maker for us. Per the ref's today I had no complaints today. We got the L we earned.

Refs felt he threw an elbow. It wasn't obvious and I think the only reason Dunphy sat him was because it was his second personal foul and it was still early in the first half.

It's the first clunker of the season, but it won't be the last. This next game against UIC will tell us whether there's reason for concern. Keep the faith.

surprised me, UC-San Diego beat JMU yesterday to go to the championship against Toledo. Beat them by 6. (Toledo now favored by 1). This Softens the blow a bit for me landed by our 5 point loss to UC. We were competitive with them, a game I thought we could have easily won. Yesterday was a different story we just did not compete well, consistently out executed.

My trying to make the best of it highlight of the tournament so far is JMU losing to San Diego. During our game with San Diego some JMU fans sitting behind me for our game with SD were laughing about how bad both of those teams are. Karma!

Good Riddance to this horseshit tourney. While the tourney wasn't a stellar line up, the team did themselves no favor by losing to two beatable teams. I think we all would have looked more kindly on it if we came out 3-0. And there is a silver lining in that playing back to back to back gives them that experience when they go into the A10 tournament.

I'm not wired right. But it's not just with respect to La Salle basketball. My daughter's U9 soccer team ran through a tournament Labor Day weekend in Warminster, to the tune where 1 game was competitive, out of 4. Ok, the girls won a tournament, but they didn't get pushed and they didn't get better that weekend. We're gonna go play a Thanksgiving Tournament in West Deptford and if they run though this tournament, I will have the same feelings, almost like I'm wasting my time.
13 years ago, my brother and I coached this travel baseball team. They were 15U, a bunch of freshmen, but they were decent. Kids from NJ, PA, and Delaware. I booked this tournament in Brandywine, Delaware as an end of summer season tourney, before taking off for the month of August.
We got to the tournament, and it was clear before the first pitch that it was going to be a shit show. They put a team of 14 year olds against us, combined 2 divisions, so we won each game by a 10 run rule. We pitched kids that never pitched, tried to challenge our kids and make it fun, but it wasn't fair to us or our opponents.
Now as far as this Boardwalk Challenge goes, this team should be humbled by it, if not embarrassed. UIC went 1-2, and was blown out in its 2 losses. So, if that's an accurate measuring stick, it's going to be a long 3 months. If you're going to schedule a slate of the games with the intention of stacking wins, you better stack the wins.
