Pleasant read- "....a new team means new possibilities, and going into the season a total wild card with no external expectations can have its benefits." Sums it up for me at this time.

Any significance in his failure to mention Acker?

Feel like we're expecting a lot from a guy who averaged 12.6ppg on a ton of volume on a really bad LIU team.

Feel like we're expecting a lot from a guy who averaged 12.6ppg on a ton of volume on a really bad LIU team. I am looking at a guard group that quite frankly is not nearly good enough without a double digit scorer. From all indications those who saw him play think his efficiency is tied to the team he was on. Athletically he is someone we need at this level. I would expect Dunphy to get far more out of him than LIU got. If he can't play we could be in some trouble if Deuce takes some time to get adjusted which would not be out of the question.

Per the guards, unlike last year, perhaps outside of looking to Marrero for scoring, I am thinking scoring may need to come from the 3, 4 and 5 spots on this team.

I can't believe Acker isn't an important part of the guard rotation. Earlier this fall I heard Dunphy on a blog and he mentioned a lot of his players but didn't include Tunde. I felt that it was just an oversight and I hope Josh's failure to include Acker was an oversight as well.

I think we are reading too much into it.

Yeah maybe. Hope so. And he was a freshman so there’s a jump to be had. Couple people on here and Twitter making him out to be a clear difference maker where the data just isn’t there

I don’t expect him to be anywhere near a difference maker, but improvement in is 2nd year with this coaching staff is the expectation. But it is a bit odd that there was no mention of him in the Verlin article. Especially since he noted the other 4 transfers.

I thought he referred to the other 4 as Upper Classmen and that's why Acker wasn't included.

But it is a bit odd that there was no mention of him in the Verlin article. Especially since he noted the other 4 transfers. if you re-listen to aaron bracy's interview with dunph back in late august, dunph is clearly expecting eric, deuce and corey to play key roles on this team. a good comparison to eric is khalil brantley. khalil was a freshman on a bad, poorly coached team and his numbers were similar to eric's and he had some efficiency issues. look at the jump he made his sophomore year when he got to play for a good coach. frosh and soph stats for khalil35.4% overall fg%, 39% from two, 27% from three, 68% from the line, 8 pts, 2.3 rbds, 1.6 asst, 1.4 t/o, 1 stl 38.1% overall fg%, 40% from two, 34% from three, 75% from the line, 14.3 pts, 4.8 rbds, 4.1 asst, 2.7 t/o, 1.6 stl frosh stats for eric38.7% overall fg%, 43% from two, 28% from three, 66% from the line, 12.7 pts, 3.7 rbds, 3.8 asst, 3.6 t/o, 1 stl i'm not saying eric will match his freshman pts, rbds, assts and asst/to ratio numbers, but i won't be surprised if he comes close, even with the jump up in competition level. the kid is talented, athletic and he's now got someone who can coach him up with that coach stating publically he's depending on him to produce for us. people also need to remember he was the youngest player in d-1 last year, was only 17 years old. if he does have to sit some games, i hope it's not too many.

Until I was the parent of a kid 2 days inside the grade cutoff and then the next one on the older side, I don’t think I fully understood how huge even 6 months are.
