La Salle is 15th rated on Torvik but projected in a tie for 11 at 7-11 based on schedule, Kenpom isn't out yet. I'm not surprised La Salle is picked better than 15th but would probably set the over/under at 11.5 or 12.5 and juice to finishing 12th.

Roster includes 4 returning players with any meaningful playing time last year and 7 new faces.
What's the point of any prognostication?
Here's how the "expert class" did last year
Difference Final 2023-24 Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Preseason Poll -2 3 1 Dayton (20) - 370 -3 5 2 VCU (3) - 321 -4 7 3 St. Bonaventure (1) - 319 -2 6 4 Duquesne - 302 -4 9 5 Saint Joseph’s - 257 -8 14 6 Saint Louis - 225 -5 12 7 Fordham (1) - 215 6 2 8 Loyola Chicago - 177 -6 15 9 George Washington - 173 2 8 10 George Mason - 146 10 1 11 Richmond - 137 -1 13 12 Davidson - 118 9 4 13 Massachusetts - 93 3 11 14 Rhode Island - 76 5 10 15 La Salle - 71

It's going to be the same 15 or so win team, we'll play the portal game in which we turn over half the roster, and we'll do this song and dance until Dunph doesn't feel like coaching anymore.
Go Phils.

So little familiarity with the roster it's difficult to get a feel for how we'll do this year. Not much info on how the preseason workouts are going and who will be in the rotation. It will be interesting.

That BS, we might finish no better than 10th place in the A10.

I found it interesting the Marrero went to DC with Dunph why? he's a senior academically, this is his fourth year with the program, never put his name in the portal, probably the most popular kid on the team. if dunph could have taken two, he would have also taken shep. andres was the right choice, just like anwar was last year.

It will be interesting. listened to a podcast the other day. dunph said demetrius lilley has been great in practice, expects him to start at the 5. between him and etienne, this team will be improved on the low post. this will also allow shep, tunde and ryan to play their natural positions and not have to cover guys 3-4 inches taller and 20-30 lbs heavier other than when la salle plays small ball. the team lost approx 48 points, 19 rebounds and 13 assists from last year's roster they gained approx 36 points, 18 rebounds and 9 assists from the five incoming transfers they return approx 31 pts, 14 rebounds and 4 assists from the returning players losing brickus, brantley, gill and jocius obviously hurts, but the cupboard is far from bare in addition, we return (including the incoming transfers) 174 minutes per game of d1 experience and we add a high major level prep school guard i fully expect the scoring difference to be made up by lilley and additional production from the other returning rotation guys along with deuce jones. same goes for assists. no way la salle finishes 15th. i love their chances of finishing anywhere between 8-10 (my top 7 in no particular order are vcu, dayton, loyola, duquesne, george mason, st louis and st joe's pa). many other a10 teams lost just as much as la salle.

Thanks for the info Diehard. I'm always optimistic and realize that we brought in some talent. Looking forward to the opener.

I feel like most teams bring one of their better players to this event. Not saying Andres isn't that, but Shep fits that bill in my eyes. Nothing against Andres. Also it was probably coin flip between the two.

La Salle actually cares about the academics of their athletes

Agreed. What's really important is what are they doing to upgrade their Dollar Dog Day experience?

Actual spicy brown mustard instead of the yellow shit would be more than enough.

Actual spicy brown mustard instead of the yellow shit would be more than enough. Thinking I'll go to Costco and make arrangements. If that's what it takes to compete for butts in the seats, fine I will pick up the tab for a round of mustard.

Agreed. What's really important is what are they doing to upgrade their Dollar Dog Day experience? The only time I met our president was in line for hotdogs at the Hagan doubleheader massacre of 2024. I used the oppo to tell him, plainly and bluntly that concessions need to be improved because games are at dinner time and a bag of nachos isn't going to satisfy dinner cravings. Before COVID , we used to at least carry (frozen) pizza but they don't even do that anymore. The offerings were pretty bland last season with only bagged popcorn, and soggy-roll hotdogs. I think they should partner with City View and sell real basic pizza by the slice, which would be a significant upgrade to current offerings. and keep it all under a heat lamp so that it's not served cold. And maybe add a fried chicken strips dish.

Seems like actual good concessions could be a bit of a delineator for the new experience. Like its big in soccer (footie scran) and the weirder concepts get traction in North American sports but if the intent is to have various draws, not just finding the cheapest possible vendor can't hurt.

Agreed. What's really important is what are they doing to upgrade their Dollar Dog Day experience? It's a facility upgrade. New floor, new scoreboard, and seats behind the baskets. We can't do better than Dollar Dog Days?

Hopefully this is viewed as an entire program refresh, not just the same processes inside a nice, new place.

I've always felt La Salle missed a golden opportunity to find a pharmaceutical company making atherosclerosis medications to be a corporate sponsor of Dollar Dog Day.

Don't know if "Merck Dollar Dog Night" is the branding they're looking for.

Don't know if "Merck Dollar Dog Night" is the branding they're looking for. It's the tagline that would draw fans in..."Have as many dogs as you want, we've got your back!".

Don't know if "Merck Dollar Dog Night" is the branding they're looking for. Our fan base is the exact target audience for heart disease medications...not just for our age, but for the nail biters we seem to endure...

We can't do better than Dollar Dog Days? Trash interview.. stinks of temple (with a lower t) fan boyisms. I knew John Chaney personally as I waited on him for years at a local business. Not a nice human being. Cheap SOB. He never tipped anybody despite creating his own parking spot with his flashy sports cars. Just an old curmudgeon. He tried to dish it but certainly couldn't take it.
