Indiana Top Players16. Marin Maric: 6’10” Center, La Lumiere Offers: Wichita State, LaSalle Interest: He played on the U18 Croatian team that won the European championship. I have been impressed with Marin’s all-around skills. He can step away from the basket and knock down an outside shot like your prototypical European big, but he also has pretty good strength and footwork in the post. This guy needs some more mid-majors offers.

Interesting. Like the size, hope his post skills are good. Why only two offers so late in the game?

He was used very little on that U18 team because he backed up a potential NBA First Round pick. Averaged about 11 minutes a game with about 3.5 pts and 2.5 rebounds. At La Lumiere Prep, he is also playing behind two blue chip recruits. He is a "Steve Zack" type of recruit which might not thrill those who want somebody to step in and contribute for 16-18 minutes a game......sorry screamer....but in a year or two maybe? BTW, he weighs 230.

But could you imagine next season Duren or Garland (depending on whichever has the weaker defender on them) playing pick and roll with a 6'10 guy that can pop out for 3 with JWill sitting under the basket.. St Louis has rode that style into the Top 25... Ughh... To nice to think about...

La Salle isn't going to get the Top 50 center unless they are local and have issues no one wants. I am fine taking a skilled European if he is from the Croatia. They have some decent kids that contribute elsewhere.
I trust G's talent evaluation.

Hell, I would take a chance on a 6' 10" 230 lb. Cro-Magnon center.

"Marin Maric: 6’10” Center, La Lumiere (2013) The Croatian big man has more skills down low than most foreign post players. He is a strong kid with good footwork in the post. He handles the ball fairly well, has some quickness, and can step outside and knock down the outside shot. I really like him."
per: Indiana Recruiting Guide. You need to scroll down to the bottom of page. indianarecruitingguide.com/game-recaps/la-lumiere-in-vs-huntington-prep-wv/The biggest thing I like about that analysis is that there are two reports now that says he has good footwork and quickness.

Screamer is only unhappy with redshirt process. If he cannot play 16 next year, that is fine, as long as he can play 8, learn the game, be more ready by Tourny time and make natural progression as a soph. While I know that othgers disagree, I would rather have that( to wit, a contribution to next years team) instead of 28 min/game 5 years from now, Worry about 2018 later. If Wichita is involved, he must be a decent prospect.

One of my professors called him "Joel" "Gene" Baptiste. JJB didn't protest so I had to say something. It's "Joelle" "John" Baptiste. It's French! Pronounced like his namesake, St. La Salle!

Hmm.. thanks
A 6'10 Power Forward... Offense is geared towards him setting the pick for the PG who doesn't look to kick it to him even when open. So it was difficult to see his "well acclaimed" jumper..
Uses both hands could be a better finisher around the basket... And while not great footwork, it is ok footwork.. He gets his shoulder in there to box out which is nice...
He doesn't seem to be the typical European player as is he does not look that lanky..
After tape watching, he looks like a player that could really benefit from a redshirt year that could be really good immediately following that year (working on getting leaner, finishing around the hoop and plyometrics)... But he could still play a little as a true freshman..
Small sample size but a great video thanks..
