I had a much longer response until my browser crapped and I’m on mobile so here’s my points in bullet form * last fresh to be key cog and average high double digits was Gary (18 ish) and Darnell (11ish)…I believe * Lack of shooters returning + time to adjust make it difficult (imo) for Jones to come in and put up big points * Don’t know much about him or McKeithan but if we got 8ish from McKeithan then it’s a win in my book * I don’t have any expectations for .500 season - hoping we don’t embarrass ourselves with multiple 20+ losses and less than 12 wins. Mookie, if we're winning 12 and losing 20, what the hell is Fran doing at the helm? I don't know if this team is gonna be good, bad, or mediocre, but 12 wins is a significant step back. That's like total reset numbers. That got Ashley Howard fired. Gary Neal was the last freshman that we knew as a future NBA player watching him play, being a 6'4 guard, etc. I think he averaged 19 as a frosh, with range anywhere in the half court. Couldn't, nor wouldn't D up, but when you got that game, take the good with the bad. That's why I asked if Jones is gonna profile like him, or like Pookie who is of similar size. I think Dunphy is doing the best he can. I think our ability to secure talent and keep it (always a challenge) has become so much more difficult, seemingly impossible with this NIL and Portal BS.

Dunphy is the only thing keeping this afloat. Without him it is a possibility we have a coach who can recruit to La Salle and coach well. However, that possibility is very, very small.
The best we could do is probably a G/Dunphy hybrid. G's tenacious recruiting and Dunphy bench coaching. That would be wonderful.

I can't see Deuce averaging fewer ppg than Acker. Even as a Freshman. I don't see why Tilley can't have production similar to Jerrell Wright in his Jr. Year. 13 PPG. Big 10 competition goes a long way...even during practice.
With Tunde in his 2nd year, the addition of White and Tilley. Shep on the floor, and 6-3 guard in Jones...I see a bigger and more physical team on the floor than we had last year. Not sure if that equates to more wins though. We'll see.

I hear ya, totally do. I’ve said many times I don’t know much about the kids coming in. All I know is Jig is a winner, a difference maker in this conference. Brantley is too but to a much smaller degree, so clearly I view Jig as significantly more valuable than Brantley. If Jones is closer to Jig than Brantley then great but seeing Jig go and not one player coming in being a clear difference maker then it’s tough to say they’ll match last year’s production…on paper. I also find it difficult to find optimism in bringing guards from Rider and LIU. I’m open minded and will give them an opportunity and will support them, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to start saying we’re equal to or better than last year…on paper. My hope is that the progress from Tunde, Moreno and hopefully Shepherd are significant enough to overcome Jig’s production and Brantley so that whatever the new guys bring are in addition to as opposed to replacing, if that makes sense.
