www.sportsfanbase.com/Friday night from SJU's Hagan Arena. 650pm Roman vs. ML King and 830 Neumann-Goretti vs. Imhotep. Players we may have on our radar screen. Roman Shep Garner 6-2 G JR. Rashaan London 6-2 G Jr. Traci Carter 6-0 G So. Roman's guards are much like La Salle U. Inter-changeable. Can play either point or wings. Garner is the most vocal of the three. All are extremely talented. Manny Taylor is wide body SO. Truck Butts but still has a way to go. Hands might be issue. Trevaughn Wilkerson 6-7 SO. Right now has Victor Thomas body. Explosive. Shot blocker. I like his upside. Neumann Ja'Quan Newton 6-2 G JR. Known commodity. Wanted to follow Scoop to Syracuse but they took other guards. Jay Wright was at PCL Semi's. Seems to be the hot rumor. G was there too. It's a long shot but don't underestimate him. Lamarr Kimble 6-0 G So. Built like the brick crap house. Third guard in their system. Supposedly a three shooter but not when I see him. Interchangeable too. Where does Stukes fit in this group of guards? I would have him slightly....very slightly higher than Newton followed by Garner, London, Carter and Kimble.

Well this thread certainly didn't draw much love. Zero replies and only 83 viewed versus a thread about a player that we may or may not have interest. A backup project who some here want sight unseen. Meanwhile, G has offered practically every player I mentioned. We need guards in the Class '14. That game was loaded. Yet no love. I'm hurt . Shep Garner had huge first half and finished with 22 points. He tries to take over the game and be The Man too much but better to want to take the key shots than a wallflower. His decisions need to be better but I would take him. Word is that he's got "stars in his eyes". He is 6-1 which might help us. G has known Shep Sr. for years which you would think is a benefit but we know from Kyle Anderson Sr. that that might not be enough. Different situation here. To be honest, London was just okay. Carter was a little better from what I can see. Trevaughn Wilkerson was in serious foul trouble all night but he impresses me everytime I see him. Manny Taylor is 6-6 and bull. Unless he grows an once or two, he might not be on G's radar. Also needs to work on FT technique which is awful. Newton was Newton for Neumann Goretti. I would love to have him and hope G can steal him. He would be perfect for us. Not holding me breathe. Kimble had 10. I like but don't love him. Brandon Austin from Imhotep is fun to watch. 6-7 Guard that really handles the ball. Natural born scorer. Providence will enjoy having him.

Shep Garner is an A10 level player but as many kids do they make a mistake and go higher than what they should and end up miserable because of thier decision. Speaking of poor decisions look at B. Johnson who once again was poor against Chester scoring 11 points and a non factor against good players. Nothing against Overton or Johnson for not picking the Explos but I don't think either player would have a big impact on our program. Doug O. if he influenced Miles at all I believe made a wise decision in that Wake F. is not a very good program at this time and Miles might be able to contribute a little. Wake is a great school and even if it doesn't work for Miles in basketball it won't matter. As far as B. Johnson goes I think he will be out of Syracuse after one year.
