St Lou and Butler are ranked today. VCU is #27 in the AP poll.
Here's how it could happen
St Lou with Ws against SJU, @gw, @ X; Loss to La Salle, finishes 13-3; 24-6. (18) They stay about 18, maybe move up as other conference teams ranked above 18 beat up on each other
VCU (Ws v Butler, UR, TU) 13-3; 25-6. (19) Two solid top 50 wins push VCU back into the top 20.
Butler (W v X, @umass ; L @ VCU, ) 11-5; 24-8 (21) The loss at VCU won't hurt as they've had the halo effect from non-conference wins all year.
La Salle (W v DU, GW, @ St Lou) 12-4; 22-7 (24) Our guards can beat St Lou's guards. The key is if our bigs can get extended minutes and help from Rohan -- this can happen as long as the refs don't buy into the silly flops of Ellis and company and put our bigs into foul trouble. We need a straight up fair ref crew, not some crew sent to St Lou with a recipe for home cooking or to increase the seed of St Lou in the tourney. The A-10 needs La Salle in as a solid 4th qualifier, leaving the door open for TU or X to make a run in Brooklyn and make a case for #5.

We would have to go from getting no votes at all to enough votes to be number 25 with only 1 chance at a quality victory. Can't see it.

Repeat after me "Top 25 rankings don't mean anything"... the only thing that matters is who goes home with the NCAA trophy.

Repeat after me "Top 25 rankings don't mean anything"... the only thing that matters is who goes home with the NCAA trophy. Well it won't be La Salle in either case... We would have to go from getting no votes at all to enough votes to be number 25 with only 1 chance at a quality victory. Can't see it. Agreed. I can't see us getting ANY votes let alone enough to be ranked even if we win out. But if we did win out, I would expect to get into the Dance regardless of A-10 tourney performance.

That's not the only thing that matters, it is one of 68 things that matter. The final four in the NIT, and the 64 who play in the "second round" which is actually the first full round if you don't count all the bye teams stat padding round.

Keep it upbeat and don't take everything so personal. We are headed into a key stretch of the season. Every game is magnified from here on.
