Hi everyone, This isn’t a post I’d usually put up, but I was contacted by a prominent La Salle person looking to give the collective a bump. This is a not-subtle attempt to retain our own players. We’ve talked in the last week or two about who is staying / going and it was relayed to me that there is a desire of most players to stay…but there might be too much incentive elsewhere. So if you can help…if you want to help…I ask that you give what you’re comfortable with knowing that it will help try to keep a team intact. Here’s the link: explorersunited.org/I appreciate it and I know the department would as well. If you have any questions shoot me a PM or hit me up via email. Thanks. -Joe Joseph.fedorowicz at gmail dot com p.s. we won’t be doing lamenting about NIL or money or how things used to be on this thread. If you want to start your own thread, that’s fine but I’d prefer it to be on the off topic board. I hope you can understand the environment.

The collective is an organization run by a third party that takes a very small cut to manage the fund and distribute contracts to players. Who makes those decisions is someone on the La Salle side. It is the only way to contribute to players directly outside of doing so yourself. The FAQ handles most of these questions: explorersunited.org/#faqs

Temple has a big push going on social media today for their collective. Maybe we can do the same if/when the Dunphy decision is announced.

Joe - thanks for posting! I have made a contribution and encourage all others to do what they can. Hundreds of us can make a real impact if we choose to engage. To your point I have plenty of misgivings about where all of this has evolved, but it’s reality. We have to deal with what is in front of us. I’m thankful that this collective was set up and that someone contacted you about it. We have to be agile in these times. God bless all Explorers where ever they are! Steve

It is a great pipe dream to think of 100 La Salle Alums willing to commit $10k per year so coach has $1 million budget to offload on players

Well we gotta do something. Tired of seeing other Philly schools better than us. Especially this Temple team, that team was bad.

Thanks Joe for this information, I will be setting up a monthly payment. This information on the collective needs to be spread to all alums, who can choose whatever sport, hopefully men’s BB.

So if I have $1000 to give, how should I do it?
- $1000 to the collective so we can pay players (and not get a tax deduction on the "donation")? - $1000 to the arena renovation so we have nice facilities (and a tax deduction)? - $1000 to the Explorer Fund directed toward basketball program gets a better internal operating budget (and a tax deduction)?
Do I split it 3 ways?

Do I split it 3 ways? Uh, what tax deduction? 90% can't itemize. Hey, maybe take it from your RMD, that works. I consider a better charity, first....but it's your money.

I have in the past spread my annual contribution to couple sports. This year I decided to just focus on men’s basketball. Based on talks with a few powers that be it will be 50% the Collective and 50% men’s BB. The contribution to BB comes from my RMD. This only works for those of us over 72.

Does anyone know how our collective is doing. I've seen stuff on social media and this board requesting donations so I know they're soliciting. Does anyone have any numbers they can share?

This is going to be unfair... Because I do not know the exact number but, as of a couple months ago, I will share it is in six-figures

Any Title IX requirements for this? Does the collective have to give equal amounts to men's and women's sports?

Any Title IX requirements for this? Does the collective have to give equal amounts to men's and women's sports? That is why the colleges don't want the athletes to be paid directly. A women's volleyball player will have to be paid the same as a men's basketball player. It doesn't matter that one is a revenue sport and one is not, Title IX will steamroll all of it.

I'm no expert on it, but thinking logically, I would think an NIL deal is for individuals and to a large extent is outside of a school's control. But logic and college sports has been turned on its' head, so...

I'm confused how players can "shop around" for more NIL. Are they signing a contract before they officially transfer? What's to stop someone offering a kid...say $100K to sign, and then they transfer and the kid only gets $50K? Since a kid transfers to a school and not a collective, how does that work in the transfer era?
Who does the player complain to...the school, the collective? It seems a lot could be promised but not necessarily delivered upon with all these different entities enticing the player to sign.

If you look for SANIL that is the company that manages the school Collective. Aside from many others they also work with St. Joe and Duquesne

Throwing this in here. At his intro presser, Dusty May estimated he spends 25-30% of his time on NIL and he has learned to like it. He wants to see his guys get taken care of. It was stunning to me that it took up that much of his time.
