Today, Glitter Bro #1, a.k.a. Colonel Douglas LeVien '94 retired from the United States Army after 30 years of service with a nice retirement ceremony broadcast live from the Army Garrison in Vincenza, Italy.
Doug is a fan's fan. He and I road-tripped to games when he was stationed in the US, and even though he's been overseas for the past several years, he almost always managed to catch Kale's broadcast. A former baseball player who started as a walk-on and made all conference his senior year, he hit one of the longest home runs ever out of Hank DeVincent field.
Before the ceremony, each of the retiring soldiers had a slideshow with various pictures from over their years of service. In addition to the standard army shots, Doug included a couple of pictures of us at La Salle games when he was home.
