My wife and kid are going to a birthday party, which means I can go! Would love to meet up with any of you anonymous weirdos if you're going to the game and want to say hi.

Not the way we drew it up. I half expected today to be a full capacity crowd with regularly priced tickets, to send off a great class and have a last chance at lighting the L with a W. The lack of support coming from SOME alumni circles disgusts me. Is this the ESPNPlus effect or is 2pm just an inopportune start time for most?

View Attachment2 pm is tough for some people who have kids involved in activities that are happening. I'm mostly past that age now although I will be going to part of my son's robotics competition this morning which is luckily at Hatboro Horsham high school, and then swinging down to The Gola. But I don't think we should be too hard on alums not turning up to see the 13th place team do battle with the 14th place team.

I get it’s the last game at Gola but why expect anything different from alums?

I have not been to many games these past few years on account of my kids busy schedules (10yo and 6yo), and honestly lack of a great product, but making it a point to get to this one (instead of the Philly High School 12/5A title game - go Ryan!). Just snagged 4 of those solid colored circles to say my farewell to a place I spent too much time in as a fan and a former athlete.
If anyone sees an overweight middle aged guy in a hooded sweatshirt with a shaved head with 2 cranky kids (not sure if my wife will be cranky), say hello.

Also, is this actually a new arena? I was explaining it to my friend and he said it feels more like you are finishing your basement and saying you have a new house.

Join us as we celebrate the La Salle Men's Basketball Senior Class of 2024 ".

The lack of student support is disgraceful.
Also, the attic roof is literally leaking, a bucket has been brought up.

The lack of student support is disgraceful. Team hasn’t been relevant since the current seniors were in 5th grade. Need a reason to go on a rainy Saturday.

There’s nothing else to do on campus… I know it’s rainy but it was a ghost town. Had no idea the Union was closed and only thing opened was Starbucks.

Well then there’s really very little reason to not attend imo (but at the same time I’m clearly biased towards college bball). I get you need to put a good product on the court if you want people to come but as the same time quite a few players from late 90s and early 2000s have been posting vids on Facebook. Those teams were part of that decade+ streak of losing seasons but the gym was always loud and packed. The team really did have a home court advantage then…

You guys can get as angry as you want at 18-22 year olds but Temple drew less than 1000 people today. Either the teams need to be good or the experience needs to be can’t miss. There have been strides on the latter but it’s still not the draw it needs to be to fill a section for the 13th ranked team in the A10.

I don’t doubt that if there was a really good product, the students would be there. Sadly, we saw the kids start to tune out on the program pretty quickly after they began to struggle immediately following the Sweet 16 (so you’re right). It is what it is. I just whoever is responsible for the game day experience makes a point to create a game day experience and the equipment is more modern and up to date.

Temple used to draw strong numbers regardless of record or opponent. That building with 1K must feel cavernous. Regardless of the new arena, I remain worried for La Salle Basketball as a program (aging core fan base, lack of student and recent alumni support) and La Salle as an institution.

We have to be more concerned that Saint Joe's is surpassing us... in attracting students first and foremost. It is not just about basketball but leadership at the highest level of the University. As fare as next year for mens hoops: Will there be excitement and a packed house to open Glaser Arena next November? Will the students fill the seats behind the baskets?

There is a direct correlation between fan support and how flamboyant GlitterBro #2 dresses going to games. He needs to step it up.

Really feel strong and excited about La Salle’s Pres and AD for once. I truly believe they are going to figure it out, but as far as packed house/students…i’ll believe it when I see it and truly hope to see it next fall.

St. Joe’s is a competitor but not a comp. If that makes sense.

The lack of student support is disgraceful. Also, the attic roof is literally leaking, a bucket has been brought up. I thought the student turnout was actually decent for the game. Place got very loud, especially on Shep's dunk. One of the (many) disadvantages of the old Gola Arena layout is that the students are spread out over sometimes three sections. Hopefully, with the new configuration they will be concentrated behind the basket and will at least give the appearance of a crowded section. We'll see.
