Former world record holder in the javelin Al Cantello passed today. I grew up in Norristown as did he and he had relationships with my brothers, both were PA HS state pole vault champions as well as Phila Catholic league champions. Al pointed me to go to La Salle and told me I would get a good education. He was correct. I and my son, who ran track at La Salle under Torpey, will miss him. What a man.
