Can’t get the ball inbounds. If we lose this game we fucking deserve it.

Can’t get the ball inbounds. If we lose this game we fucking deserve it. On a packed bunch you gotta throw into space… Fordham was fronting and playing really tight.. You can’t throw towards your hoop.. The one thing you couldn’t do..

Good D by La Salle in the last 5 minutes, but my god was that last 2 minutes painful. The positive is they led the entire second half and played hard. A win on the road is always good.

Good to get a W, especially on the road, but that sure was a painful last few minutes.

It wasn't pretty but we're not going to win pretty this year. I thought Dunphy did a great job with his rotation considering our already short on depth team was without Anwar. It's hard to be a La Salle fan. Great road win!

I’ve been a bit hard on Zan so props to him for a 2nd consecutive good game. Gonna need to keep it up if he’s to justify being a solid player on a winning team at this level.

These are games we would lose in the past. Despite the bad 3 and subsequent 2 missed free throws I hope this game gives Joscius some confidence so he can improve his play.
We need some type of presence in the paint.

I’ll say it again…Zan is a quality A-10 player. Doubters can pound Zand.

Good win against a talented team at home. Fran did his homework and the players executed.
Really balanced scoring, we won the rebounding battle and a lot of free throws were made. The two guard lineup contributed to this.

The issue with Zan is his ability defend. He is not the answer in the paint. He should see some limited minutes as a stretch 4.

The issue with Zan is his ability defend. He is not the answer in the paint. He should see some limited minutes at the 4. I don’t doubt he’ll produce if put into action. He won’t be 0s across the board or anything like that. In spot mins or limited minutes he could be of value. At this point in time, I don’t see him being A10 level where he’s getting 15-20 mpg and producing when on a good A10 team. That being said, I’m also of the opinion that anything .500 or better for La Salle this year means we overachieved. So it’s very unlikely that Zan can prove (to me at least) to be an A10 level player this year. It’s going to take this and next year AND for La Salle not to be in the bottom half of the conference.

Great road win at Rose Hill. We really needed that. Zan really has stepped up—plays physical, and gets position to rebound or to tip, despite being undersized. This was another game we lost under prior coaching. Happy for the guys!

Great road win today against Fordham and our first win starting the new year. We played an overall good game and a nice bounce back win. Ryan Zan started out hot in the first half like last week. Zan avg. 10 pts per game since being inserted into the starting line. We shot the ball a lot better in the second half than against GMU. Bench came through with Jocius (14 pts & 6 rebounds) and Marrero (7 pts. 5 rebounds & 3 assists). Jocius played tough down the stretch on the defensive side of the ball with timely blocks shot. Shepherd (15 pts & 8 rebounds) had a nice bounce back game. My armchair coach player of the game is Jocius. Jocius man up on the defensive side during the last couple minutes in the game. Finally we got our first victory at Fordham since 2020 and let get our second A10 win at UMass on Wednesday. Let go baby.

Is our lineup better without Gil? Absolutely not. Say more calsufan…I’m not sure it’s that definitive. Gil is a statistically the worst 3pt shooter on the team, turns the ball over at the highest rate on the team, and has only gotten to the line 24 times all year. I’d be starting Marrero over Fasasi and Gil in hopes that he can get us a barrage of 3s. He also shoots 85% from the line and has turned the ball over the least among the players who have gotten consistent minutes.

While I agree that Gill should not be taking 3 pointers...at all, he shoots 50% from 2 point range. He's also the team's third leading scorer by average at 10.9 points per game and hits 79% of his FT. He only averages 2.3 TO per game which isn't bad at all. Add to that the fact that he's our best defender, is second on the team in steals and he's a gritty, hard-nosed player.

Went to the game today. They played well, stayed aggressive and hit their free throws, as they needed just about every one of them. The biggest issue to me turned up at the end, with La Salle's inability to handle the full-court press with a Fordham big on the inbounder. Break that press and the Explos win by 10+. They didn't, and the ball stayed on Fordham's end of the floor for about 10 minutes in real time. Painful to watch.

If you want to talk about the impact of limiting a player’s minutes, it appears Dunph has already begun to do that, which has led to the spark Zan has given us. Anwar should not be part of that conversation.

Certainly need defense and we also need players who can shoot. There are limitations with what we can do given the roster that we have.
I just think we know the ceiling of our team when Brickus/Brantley/Gil/Shep are all occupying time on the floor simultaneously and it's not good enough to get over the hump. Not strictly because of their individual talents but because of the talent we don't have in the 5th spot.
We don't get any easy buckets so, for me, I'm more inclined to want someone like Marrero on the floor who offers more efficient minutes scoring. You can surprise a team, or stay in a game, if 1 player is hot from 3 (Marrero offers the best chance of that). So to make room for that I think Gil is the odd man out.
Brantley and Brickus have the fire and ice thing going on but they generally offer the same thing on the floor, and you've giving up 5-6 inches in height x 2 when you've got both out there. Unless we have an amazing big I'm more inclined to see a different lineup that offers some semblance of size and opportunity to score easier pts so that when our shots aren't falling we can keep pace. I've read here people who are already clamoring for Brickus to stay next year...I'm not one of those people. Again, not because I don't sincerely like his play (I do), but because I think I know the likely outcome when it's the lineup we've seen.

Reading some of the posts here made me go back to check if we won or lost yesterday. We beat a bigger more athletic Fordham team with grit and hustle and all who played contributed. Some of our guys are small, some don't have complete skill sets, some are often less athletic than their individual matchups but all have played hard. Anwar is tough defensively and gives us additional ball handling which we surely could have used in the waning minutes of yesterday's game. There are plenty of minutes for Anwar, Marrero and Tunde to share. Rokas had 14 points, 6 rebounds and 3 or 4 blocks in one of his better games and was a big factor in our win. His hands can be shaky at times but our guards have to work harder at getting him the ball where he can catch it and use it. I suspect that Dunphy sees a little Mark Zoller(older guys on this board will remember him from Penn) in Zan and certainly there's a place for him in our rotation. We're not a legitimate contender for the A 10 championship but we won't finish last and will win more than 3 conference games. I agree that sometimes they're hard to watch but it's more because we don't match up well not because of lack of effort. Go 'splorers!
