One thing I was thinking about today… Imagine if we had the talent under Ash with Dunph on the sideline. It’s funny I was thinking about how we swept St Joes just a couple years ago for 3 games while Ash was still coaching and Lange was still there… Fast forward we get Dunphy, a coach in a different universe than Ashley, and Lange is still there but St Joes are a different class this year You make zero sense.

Is he above reproach? Absolutely not, but damn are you dogging him every chance you get and most of it is unwarranted. So what is it? What's your personal beef against Dunphy? Guys, This is not a rip on Dunphy. Basketball and sports works in a weird ways. It might be a backhanded compliment towards what Lange accomplished in the last 24 mo this. Dunphy is a HOF coach and 100x better than Ashley. Nothing I said is wrong in the statement above but again sports is really weird sometimes. Dunphy is not above reproach but this program is much better off with him.. As I have said on more than a few occasions over the last few years.

We have one of the softest schedules in Div 1 basketball. I think we can admit that our record is not indicative of the total picture which is the eye test and games against above average basketball teams which was Duke. And even the luster is coming off Duke as the they lost a couple games since against non-ranked teams. But it is important to emphasize that we are winning games that we were losing in years prior. There is a reason why our NET ranking is in the bottom half of D1 basketball even with our 8-2 record. And with seasons prior, I feel comfortable believing that the team will be better at the end of the season then it has started because of Coach

As I have said on more than a few occasions over the last few years. Our win experience with sju has not been dominant, but we did win more when lange had 5,6 and 11 overall wins. We won 3 in 21-22 because ash had more talent and chambers definitely helped close out key close games. Lange had five years to develop the team he has now and has made good local recruiting inroads Fran inherited a team after a talent exodus and has had a year to develop his talent pipeline. sju looks better this year but I doubt they are a different class away per your post. Hoping for a split this year.

23won Absolutely true that Fran came right into a mess… Nickelberry. Dis leave under his watch and would have been huge this year. We are missing that one shooter to pair with Brickus and Marrero to have a truly effective small ball team. Small ball has worked against at the Lafayettes of the world but it will not work against A-10 teams. For small ball to work you need at least 4 people who can shoot to spread the court. We have 2-3 players on the roster right now. Brickus, Marrero and Tunde. I know the latters #s do not jump out but he passes the eye test. I think he is a player with more playing time and opportunities will flourish. Very excited about him. But sadly StJ is a different class this year. They pass the eye test and their advanced rankings show a large gap. More than 100 spots among all rankings between us and them. I do agree they will lose players this year and it will be tough to replicate what they are doing. You when consider there are 300+ teams, 100+ spots is a lot. Again not a rip against at Fran. He doesn’t control what Josh does for his last year. He doesn’t control how Lange manages his program. Those are variables out of his control.
