Same can be said for Dayton, down 15 to LSU and comes back to pull out a win. Good night for the A-10 yesterday. A-10 goes 3-0 with two of those wins over power 5 conference teams.

We need to beat Temple and then either the Hawks or Nova. Neither Temple nor Nova looks impressive so far. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves now… Neither looked impressive last year but that didn’t stop them from beating us by double digits. We had a different team last year. The Explorers are more focused this season.

dayton beat st john's and will be playing either houston or utah on sunday for the charleston classic title. I believe dayton, who's playing an even shorter bench than la salle (6 guys average double figure minutes and 2 guys average around 9 minutes), will lose one of their rotation players for sunday's game. koby brea, their third leading scorer, was ejected after getting two technicals in the last couple minutes of the game, and i'm pretty sure ncaa rules require that he sit out the next game.
i'm no dayton fan but i loved that they beat slick rick.

Gotta be happy when an A10 team gets a nice OOC win - good for the conference.

To be fair, that’s a squad that just beat University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma by 50.

Couple of tough ones tonight too with St. Joe's taking on Kentucky and Richmond against a ranked Colorado team.

Dayton is showing up for the A10. Props to the red sweater vests. They mounted a bit of a comeback in the first half, but Houston was just too much for them and killed them on the offensive glass. Santos can shoot!

La Salle has dropped in preseason ratings on KenPom and Torvik despite the 4-0 start. The Southern Indiana game is the biggest reason for the decline. La Salle is now 207 on KenPom down from 201 prior to first game. La Salle has been fortunate that opponents are only shooting 61% from the Free Throw line against them, while defense and rebounding are the teams two biggest weaknesses thus far.

I'm not saying Kenpom is wrong, because its def a better measure of who is or will be good than like RPI, but I don't get the early season rankings. There has to be some programmed bias for Villanova to have a 303 non-conf SoS and a loss to Penn and still be 26th. Like it can't be performance to date, there's other factors that he's added?

When is the influence of preseason ratings removed from the system? That is covered here. Why do the preseason ratings have influence after the season begins? That is covered here.

Oh man, I really don't love that only because I thought Kenpom was more objective. "They're ranked high because we ranked them high earlier" is pretty rough.

Hear ya but he explains why and, in the one article, uses La Salle as the reason. For the rankings to have any relevance prior to January, they need to use something. His explanation that the previous year holds the weight of five games is pretty acceptable I think.

Yeah, I'm not saying its not justifiable, just that spelling out the subjectivity wasn't the "ah ha, that makes sense" I was hoping for.

St. Joe should won that game, but one question how long Tre Mitchell been playing. I remember him from UMass in 2019.

Tre is on his 4th team in 5 years. 2 years at UMass, 1 at Texas, 1 at West Virginia, and now Kentucky.
Kentucky benefited from some home town referee calls at the end.

200 to win a week in Sea Isle at +1600... that's the bet. Joe now at +1000. Hope you got in early. If not, you'll be looking at a week in Seaside Heights instead.

Lost in OT but gave Kentucky a heck of a game. that was a great game. nothing better than college basketball. hawks shot the lights out. reynolds is really good but xzayvier brown really impressed me. i saw him play for roman a few times and he was very good but his outside shot was only okay. looks like he's really improved in that area. very poised player, will be a star for them.
