www.philly.com/philly/sports/colleges/temple/20130221_Marcus_Hayes__Big_5_hoops_gives_fans_reason_to_hope.html"A nine-game winning streak entering Atlantic 10 Tournament play would give them 23 wins and probably punch their ticket. A loss to unranked Temple and that ticket goes away." So he thinks a road loss to Temple would take away our "ticket" and that winning out (wins at Temple and at St. Louis) would only "probably" get us in? Worst part of late season college hoops is the writers who have no idea what they're talking about suddenly taking (or feigning) an interest...

Really poor article. Also you can't compare losing at St. Bonaventure and losing at home to Duquense. A loss there would have hurt La Salle but it would not have been viewed as a bad loss as RPI 200+ loss to Duquense is. As Bob Knight would say to a journalist "You are illuminating your lack of knowledge of the game".

Marcus sometimes just is out of touch. Even if this team losses to Temple and St Louis (both away games) they probably finish 21-8 and if they go 1-1 in the A10 and have a record of 22-9 they will probaly be an 11 or 12 seed. He does make one strong point and that is the incredible bias toward name recognized teams versus the smaller names. Afterall the NCAA Tourny is about money and not about placing teams in the tourny who earned it. Example would be the thrashing the A10 upper teams have put on the Big Least upper teams but it is never discussed because of perception.

No way are we out with a loss to Temple. That just shows a level of ignorance to the subject he's writing about that's pathetic

The Temple game is starting to matter only as far as that beating them will be necessary to go 13-3 (first A10 title for the program) or to have a mulligan left on the way to 12-4 and we NEED THE BYE. 12-4 (22-7) probably gets us in unless we would go on to lose to the 11 or 12 seed in Brooklyn in which case we would be right on the line and still need a lot of help. In the crazy A10 the first round bye is so huge and while I used to think we needed a tune-up game on our schedule to grab an at large, there are no more gimmies in the A10, and the RPI boost from another game in Brooklyn simply won't happen by playing the #11 or #12 seeds in Brooklyn (likely Bona or Dayton, neither a top 100 opponent). We don't need some Dayton or Bonnies or even a SJU game to help us punch the ticket. Those opponents can do us only harm and must be avoided on Thursday in Brooklyn.
