St. Louis DESTROYED VCU tonight.
So that means with five games to go we in second place.
This. Is. Happening.

Actually we are in 3rd at the moment since Butler also won to go 9-3 in conf. However, the VCU loss puts us in position to win the rest of our games and claim the conference title. We do not have to rely on any other team to lose again. First step is to win on North Broad St. on thursday.

That's right. We now control our own destiny, which is a nice feeling. And Butler still has games remaining vs SLU and VCU, so someone's gotta lose those games as well. SLU is rolling at the moment. Only 8 TOs vs VCU. Friday night SLU vs Butler should be a lot of fun to watch...two very smart, very well-coached teams.

We are 0.5 games behind Butler and VCU right now but all 3 of us have 3 losses, we own the tiebreak against both of them so effectively we're tied right now, a win puts us a game up on each of them.
Basic point is still that we control our destiny to the reg season title, winning out the season puts La Salle in 1st place because VCU, SLU and Butler can't all win out because they play each other so more losses have to come for someone.
The fact that it's mathematically possible and not completely unreasonable to see a way where the Explos could be reg season champs is unbelievable.
I'm no fortune teller, but I'm pretty sure in my pre-season prediction I forecasted the SLU game would have major implications. Winnign tomorrow puts that idea firmly in play.
We should also hope for a URI win tonight to put space between us and XU and also set up a hopeful letdown game for URI, although at this point, we are actually becoming most of our oppnents' biggest game of the year. Which is nice.
