Given the type of coach Dunphy, his reputation and character I bet of Shepherd changed his mind he would make it work. I’ll dig up where coaches said it but Cal said it last season when the rule went into effect. In terms of Kimbrough, it was reported by Mike Jensen that Kimbrough entered the transfer portal with the expectation he would go to Rutgers. Rutgers pulled their offer and when he turned back to Ash he said no we already filled your position. It was on a podcast just trying to remember which one. Wasn't Kimbrough an attitude problem while he was here?

No one should be shocked by this. It’s the new normal.
Coaches have to keep players happy on a number of levels, NIL included. Shep has buddies from HS and AAU who no doubt make big dough. He wants his FMV I am sure
Coach has to value all FMVs and set priorities for incoming talent and keeping key pieces. I am sure he will do that.
Appreciate all of Shep’s contributions and hope he decides to stay.

No one should be shocked by this. It’s the new normal... Dunphy alluded to this exact same thing in his press conference after the loss to Fordham on Thursday. He said something to the effect that you have re-recruit your players on the team. He said this is the environment college basketball lives in today. He also said if he had his say, he'd have all of the players back. Maybe Shepherd will change his mind and come back, but based on the fact that he jumped so quickly without his sit down with Dunphy, I'm going to guess that he's firm in his decision and is moving on. I enjoyed watching him play. Best of luck to him in the future.

It's good that the athletes can make some money. It's good that they can leave if their coach leaves...but re-recruiting your roster every year isn't how this is supposed to work. The law of unintended consequences, and none of it is good.

Speaking of the portal….There is an article in the weekends Wall Street Journal about the portal’s impact on St. Peters. Hassan Drame is quoted (pg. A -14). I guess that is something to put on his resume.

From strictly a fan view, the new normal in NCAA college basketball has been a roughly 30 years of "it sucks" for me as a La Salle university basketball fan. But, for that matter I think the last change I was truly happy about was allowing the dunk.

I'm glad to hear that. I hope he works hard this off-season on his ball handling and his jump shot. If he does, I predict a lot of shot fakes followed by monster dunks. Great news for La Salle basketball.

This is great new that Shepherd is staying. It sky the limited for him with Coach Fran. He need to work on his mid-range jump shot and ball handling. If that improve, watch out baby. #GoExplorer

wasn't able to get online since this morning and just saw this. what a nice surprise. with some improvement on his shot and ball-handling, he could really be a breakout player over the next two seasons.

I guess Fran convinced him to stay? He’s one of my favorites.
I’m still thinking about the open 3 look he had in the final minutes of the Fordham game last week. I really thought it was going to drop in.

It is very encouraging to me that he is staying. Says a lot about the team chemistry and what Fran has been able to put in place from a team culture perspective. A complete 180 from where it was 12 months ago. It tells me these guys are on board and ready to work.

Still early in the process but it will be interesting to see how this offseason finishes up.

If he works on his J and defense, he helps us win more and writes his own ticket for the next level.
