Kudos also to Steve Zack and Jerrell Wright for their contributions to yesterday's victory, both of whom continue to show steady improvement with each game.

Our guard play has caused them to be somewhat overlooked but both have been big contributors to our success. I'm thrilled to have them.

I stated after seeing Jerrell play the first time that he would be a player to remember. I didn't realize that Steve would also. Neither will ever be stars but both will most likely remain good to possibly very good players.

I think JW could be a star if he played with same intensity as yesterday. He was a diff guy-ferocious. He showed no fear of getting his shot blocked and he must have terrified the Hawks on some of his rebounds. I do not think that Z can bd a "star"-- but how many are? Just be as good as u can be. He is productive and will get to next level by working on his hands. Its amazing how much better a big guy can bne if he can catch the ball in traffic. Remember Donn Wilbur. Very nice guy- but in first 2 years, could not catch ball if handed to him. Then he improved and was a very productive player- not a star, but a good Div 1 center. At this point Z is much better than Donn was early on and will be at least as good and probably better than Donn was as an upperclassman.Lastly, JW and Z will be better next year bec. there should be some depth and can be more aggressive.

I think next year, when Ramon is gone, we're going to be known for our strong front line, as opposed to strictly a guard-oriented team. How strange will that be?

Jerell showed a lot of emotion all game and the desire was definitely there. I was impressed again that he doesn't lose his composure when pulled by G - yesterday he was pulled early despite playing really good on offense due to some defensive breakdowns (common story there..) but he doesn't pout and seemed to be chomping at the bit to get back in there, and it showed.

He needs to develop his right hand... and mentally needs to improve his basketball IQ... Unfortunately, he is a defensive liability

If Zack and Jerrell continue to develop when their senior's they have the ability to be upper echelon A-10 players for us

Wow, we win a big game and naturally we have to pick apart one of our own in Jerrell Wright. Hey I am sure Phil Mickleson would like to shoot 60 every round too. I don't know where this crap started about Jerrell not giving effort every play every night started but I think it's a bunch of BS. The non-effort guys are gone. Thank God. Jerrell plays hard. Sure he lacks a right hand. He can't put the ball on the floor for more than a couple of dribbles. His FT% is a constant 62%. The kid is a winner and a battler. Now he's labeled as a bad defender. He's young and growing. He's a heck of a lot better defensively than last year and will get a little better next year and the year after. Last I looked he hasn't been a foul machine like last year. We are 18-3 and 8-3 with him. Hate to think what we would be without him.
Keep doing what your doing Jerrell and "don't let the bastards get you down." * quote not referring to an individual on this board.

I don't think anyone is knocking jerrell - but Saturday he played at a whole new level and it's a compliment to him to say that. I think he plays hard all the time, but Saturday was just an insane level of intensity. It just showed how great he can be and probably will be. I'm sure the staff will show him in the film room all the things he did working at that level of focus and determination. it was awesome.

Both looked really good if you just ignore Zack's TO issues early on. Not sure why a team that regularly plays 2 - 3 ballhandlers at a time insists on running a high post offense, but its working so that's a hollow complaint.

The spacing's really good when Zack sets a pick in the hand-off. The big man guarding Steve's away from the basket. Good luck, A-10 big man, trying to get back in position against Ramon or Tyreek. Steve can also pass the ball a little bit from out there.
It works really well. Their assist/FG ratio has been awesome for a lot of games.

Take note of our rebounding of late. We have not been outrebounded since the VCU game. We had some big rebs late in the Bonnie game, and bested STJ by about 10 for the game. The bigs have been doing their part, and it appears the guard have been getting their fair share as well by just hustling towards the missed shot. Need to keep it up, and bring the Turnovers back down to about 10 per game.

Sweat and Jellybean (including the U2 lyric) make good points.
I have made about 7 games live and seen most of the rest on TV/streams. For me, the biggest transformation came in the UMass game. G went with a 4 guard lineup initially and we were getting smoked by UMass's four bigs, who were playing with Chazz. To his credit, G made an adjustment and played Steve and Jerrell together for an extended period to finish the game. With both of those guys in, we reversed a 9 point deficit and then went up by one with 8 seconds left.
Williams pulled out the W which sucked, but I walked away thinking there really is a silver lining here, because G had to go big and the two of them DELIVERED. (BTW UMass's Lalanne is a monster who is just starting to flex his muscles - watch out for that guy). Since then, Steve and Jerrell have played great individually, but G has not had to go with both of them for extended periods. The good news is that when G has to go big (and he will against St Louis and Temple and in the A10 and NCAA tourney, YES I said that) these guys have the skills and confidence to deliver.
