I feel pretty strong that whoever is in goal for the US in 2026 won't even be on the 2022 roster.

Which I guess doesn't technically preclude McCarthy but ...

Big news today... Straight off its second ever Women's College Cup (Final Four) appearance in 2021, Rutgers continues to appear on the women's out of conf. schedule. A sure to be RPI Top15 game early in the season is a great test.

Women's schedule is complete. Still waiting for three of men's soccer conference opponents to announce dates. Season is almost upon us, so I don't really understand the holdup. I'm going to attribute it to travel arrangements since we're no longer in a geographic conference which is where a school of our size belongs, in case anybody was not 100% sure.

What are the expectations for both the men's and women's team in 2022? Both teams have bolstered the rosters quite a bit with incoming freshmen, transfers and internationals. I'm expecting to see a competitive squad, but I don't know much specific about the teams yet.

Have seen good signs from the soccer programs that my age old complaint is being PROPERLY addressed, namely, that game day atmosphere and fan attributes such as drinks and snacks had been sorely lacking. I've been reading reports that concessions are now available at games, as well as the opportunity to attend a beer garden at at least select home games. The student supporter section behind the goal is a nice addition as well, which Penn and other big soccer schools had already implemented years ago, with much success. This is all transformative, in my opinion. For me, the soccer game day experience was always lacking the panache of some of our local competitors, particularly Rider and Penn. It seems as though some personnel in athletics and or student affairs have used the covid break as an opportunity to reimagine student engagement, put some resources behind these programs and actively promote them as well, so I'm excited to see what may come out of it.
Tonight is the men's soccer home opener, another momentum opportunity. Last night was the women's soccer home opener which broke last year's highest home attendance by 79%. The effort is clearly working in the early going, and there is still room to continue to expand the reach of these fine programs that have been working hard and winning in a vacuum for much of the last decade if not more.

What happened to the women's team hykos? The start of the year looked good but things seem to have fallen apart.

What happened to the women's team hykos? The start of the year looked good but things seem to have fallen apart. I only watched the matches at Rutgers, Loyola and at VCU on web stream. All three of those matches were away. In all three matches, La Salle had very excellent defense, and appeared more poised despite the results. The losses were quite unlucky, and might have well been ties were it not for a single blunder in the backfield each time. Our offense against those opponents was neutralized, but given their prowess, I'm not surprised they limited our chances. To your point, to give up 3 goals at home after halftime to a less quality opponent (Duquesne) and to lose a game that way is baffling. I'm hoping it was mostly weather related and not a sign of weakness. The game did not web stream so I've not been able to view even the lowlights of it on twitter. They'll try to bounce back tonight against a Columbia team that's 3-0-1 at home but lost to mutual opponent Seton Hall. Attachments:

The good news is food and bev at games has finally been addressed. I've been asking for years. I guess I'm obligated to buy something now.
Will buy the first round if it helps any one of you on the fence make it out to the St Joe's game... last year that was the 3-2 OT loss that effectively ended our season due to the Hawks winning out and claiming the final playoff berth from us.

Rough season for both teams this year Women got a decent result on the road last night, and the men have started 2-1 in one of the hardest conferences. Must not write it off yet.

The women's team outshot Davidson 7-1 today but lost 1-0. The official missed a rather obvious headshot (red card) away from the ball and instead called a foul against the Explorers on the same playindicated that the Explorers had somehow fouled, but allowed Davidson the Advantage Rule with possession.
A tie would not have been enough to advance to the postseason, but a win would have just done the trick. They finished the year 3-6-1 in a very competitive A10.

I did not go to the game. Both teams are conditioned to play on turf. I am amazed to see some of the teams that missed the cut this year, and how many ties occurred throughout the league. St Joes very nearly tied St Louis on the road last night. There truly is a competitive balance in the A10.

Did you go to the game ? I was at the game and La Salle played very well. They pressed play for most of the game and had more chances. The game winner was an incredible shot. I have seen a number of games via the stream and can say that La Salle has improved over the season and they have gotten much better at controlling the ball and the short passing game to set up chances. All that being said, La Salle owes the win the the keeper who stopped a PK minutes after La Salle took the lead. It was his second PK save in the span of about 10 days to save a W.

My Google alert is pinging me with some w.soccer portal news. S. Collins, the 5'5" defender with 2 goals scored including a game winner and multiple assists, is taking her 2 remaining years of eligibility to JMU. JMU missed the NCAA tourney last year but just barely missed qualifying, ultimately losing in its conference final, 4-3 in Overtime, last season. And so adding Collins as a veteran playmaker is a huge move for them that may help get them over the top. On the Explorer side, some more big shoes to fill so hopefully the class coming in can help bolster the roster which has gotten a bit greener and leaner with this departure. Best of luck to Collins in her new pursuits, academic and soccer career. She'll be missed!
