This loss will push our SRS under -2 for the season Worst Teams in La Salle history by SRS (a combination of margin of victory/defeat and strength of schedule. the number is how much you'd win or lose by against the average D-I team on a neutral floor) www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/la-salle/#la-salle::92015-16 -6.09 Giannini 2006-07 -5.66 Giannini 1971-72 -5.21 Westhead 2004-05 -4.39 Giannini 1981-82 -4.32 Ervin 2018-19 -3.61 Howard 1984-85 -3.57 Ervin 1997-98 -3.00 Morris 1965-66 -2.70 Heyer 1980-81 -2.15 Ervin 2020-21 ~-2.00 Howard The best (by SRS) is the 1954-55 team that lost to Bill Russell in the national final, though from what I've read of the era, I wouldn't be surprised if the 1952-53 team was actually the best. 2 best players were hurt for their NIT game against St. John's at the Garden, (which they lost by a point). Otherwise they likely repeat as NIT champs. Amazing just how close they came to 4 straight championships

I am seeing some raw emotions, some coaching knocks, and some talent reevaluations.
Understandable but let's hold on a second. We got outplayed by a way underrated Hawks team that has now won about 100% of its games since Ryan Daly returned. Just a bad matchup for us, but the second round opportunity against UMass (George Mason had they seeded correctly) would have exposed us worse, and we could have lost by 20+. We also could have lost today by 20 but we hung in there and played hard (almost) 40 minutes.
I was at least heartened to see we came out with fire in the first half. We actually outrebounded them in that half which kept us competitive as well. (I do not think missed free throws and turning the ball over comes from poor coaching.)
We looked like we controlled the tempo for 2/3 of the game, while in the first half shooting 6/12 from deep, but then struggled in that crucial spell where the game got away from us and it felt like nothing could go down between 8 and 1 minutes left.
I'll give Ash a pass on this season. I know we would have wanted better than a #12 and a one & done... but given what we have, we cannot expect much more as we were picked 13th. It is a very good league, and our 6-11 record was almost where we should have finished, and not far off where many of us predicted it to be. Can we please stop having discussions on firing and buyouts? I get the idea of not extending a coach that cant get to above .500, but we are just not a place with a huge budget that can afford to go out and get a new coach every 3 years and pay two coaches at once. Some of the posts in here sound ridiculously out of touch with what our resources are. Most of you went here and should appreciate what our coaches and athletes are up against.

Really fired up about this loss, flat out disgrace! Curious how many excuses coach comes up about this season, as mentioned earlier, stated around a dozen during zoom meeting? Total breakdown in 2nd half, all on Howard, no excuse... Glad this terrible season over, know coach will be back bug sure doesn't deserve it!

Glass half-full observation - with as cash-strapped as the school is right now, at least they don't have to spend extra money on hotel rooms in Richmond this week. glass three quarters full observation- we also dont need to watch another underwhelming, frustrating team play another game just because the opponent was even more incompetent.

I'll give Ash a pass on this season. WHAT? No. Unacceptable. He is second most highly compensated employee of the University. You don't get "a pass" in year 3.

I lean in the direction of 88 but I think we could have been a .500 team. So that leaves coaching as the #1 culprit. Gents, I made up my mind with that loss at Fordham and it isn't going to change. Time for a break from La Salle. We have to see who the new president is. That's the first step for me. Have a nice Spring. Don't forget to set your clocks back an hour before you go to bed on 3/13. I understand you're free to do as you choose, but I do recommend catching the women's tournament on ESPN+. Claire Jacobs and Kayla Spruill both at the top of their games, this should be a great tournament, at least more fun to watch than today's episode. Then you can go away for those 10 months and recover from today's all time recurring nightmare of only losing to St Joe's in the A10s. (2001, 2003, 2021)

No one is more responsible for the program than this coach. His three season pass is over. We are going backwards for sure.

Give Howard a pass, agree with Glitter, no.... Pound the f___ing ball inside, take advantage of your opponents weakness, where was the coaching ? Just want to see La Salle become relevant within Philly community, losing to a lousy St Joe's team (self inflicted)not going to make this happen! Team stinks, sorry to say!

Our free-throw shooting is absolutely atrocious. I just don’t understand how one of the most basic fundamentals we cannot consistently do.

Replacing Temple and Villanova on our schedule with Army and Lincoln affected this year's preparation...
Because in the process of all the rescheduling, I think we lost an opportunity to get battle tested going into the A10s. We were no match for George Mason, UMass and Davidson after playing such a lighter schedule. Not by design, just how it went.

Please ignore me. I have been informed by another senior board member that we actually move our clocks forward one hour before we go to bed on 3/13. That is spring forward, fall back. My excuse for this error is that La Salle basketball has me totally disoriented. Peace.

Confirmed, Jared is leaving. Shame. I thought he was under utilized. Especially this year. Seems like a great kid. Wish him the best.

a player tweeting that an hour after the game speaks volumes about Ash's abilities to manage the locker room

I will be sorry to see him go. We never seemed able to fully tap into his potential. I wish him luck wherever he ends up.

a player tweeting that an hour after the game speaks volumes about Ash's abilities to manage the locker room An hour after a disappointing end to the season and assuming he does intend to transfer? I think it says less about Ash and if anything more about the player (if at all).

Maybe both, but definitely not "volumes" about the coach. When you add in the 3 others who left mid season over the past 13 months, plus others coming...yeah...it kind of does.

I don't see this as an example of Ash mismanaging the locker room. Kids want to play and with the transfer portal it's easier to move on hoping to find a better option. Teams give 13 scholarships but aren't playing 13 guys. Jared responded to a tweet, he didn't instigate the conversation. I'm not sure why the timing is an issue. The season is over. He didn't stop playing before the end of the season. If anything, him making it known now lets the staff know they have another scholarship to work with.

If anything, him making it known now lets the staff know they have another scholarship to work with. I 100% hope that the staff didn't learn of this from the tweet. My guess that unless was decided in the last two hours, they've known for some time.
