While we were dying in a loss to Fordham Ash has gotten a commitment from Andres Marrero who is a 6”5 shooting guard from Venezuela.
I am on my phone so I don’t have a link.
More perimeter help. Still need some size.

Still need some size. We need guards with handle. After watching this game, and the turnovers in transition, or while driving the ball...I think it's our number 1 need.

Looks like he is a junior. Class is ‘22. He must have reclassified. The video says class of '21. Good handle, good court vision and can shoot well. Granted they're highlights, but he looks like a player. Welcome Andres!

he re-classed back in november. you have to believe a lot of 2021 kids will do the same. ashley offered him back in june 2019 so he's been on him for a while.

Gotta figure current Operations Director John Cox whose father and himself both played professionally in Venezuela had something to do with this recruitment

I see a future Josh Hart in the work. nice pick up Ash. I have to say, I love when this board sees a highlight reel of a sophomore/junior in HS and already see a future NBA player in the work. It's one of my favorite features of this board.

These videos are ultimately not that informative as pointed out. It is really tough to discern the quality of the recruits that come our way or we might be looking at. If anyone has a helpful formula for this I am all ears. The stars given do not seem to work well at least for us. I think the level of quality other schools interested in a prospect provides some help. If someone has some helpful thoughts here fire away .

A college lacrosse coach friend of mine said he rarely looks at the videos for recruiting because they are just highlight reels. Case in point, he said he's never seen a video for a goalie where he gives up goals. What he really wants to see is...when the kid gives up a goal, does it rattle him and he gives up 3 more, or does he recover and focus and continue to play hard. Highlight reels don't show that....or all missed layups our players seem to have perfected.

Presumably Ash has seen him play enough to believe he can help us. What you can see from the video is he's a big strong wing with good shooting technique. If we are going to play the wide open offense that Ash learned at Villanova we need shooters. We've had some great wins when we shot well and some bad losses when we don't. Hopefully Andres will be the jump shooter we need. Welcome to La Salle Andres.

Looks like Marrero will be 2021 recruit. He signed his LOI today.
So now we just have 2 scholarships available.

Sounds good for future. Would still like to see a transfer (1) who can score and (2) provide PG depth in last two roster spots
