Does this mean La Salle has a non-losing season?

All sports on hold. What am I supposed to do? Bet on competitive darts?

That really sucks for our athletes, especially our seniors and especially for Shaggy who had a chance to end his career at home, on a big stage and with a shot at making the 1,000 point club.
It also is sad that Dayton did not have a chance to run the table on the East bracket as a number one seed and potentially win it all (potentially by avenging a close early season loss against Kansas).
While our viewing fun has been spoiled, cancelling March Madness was the right call. The initial proposal to have athletes compete in empty arenas was really ill-conceived. That approach would have removed students and fans from the large arena risk of contracting the virus, but it would have put the players, with body contact and body fluid transmission, at direct risk. This was an idiotic Gladiator era idea no doubt driven by $800 million of TV money.
Events like these have been canceled by war. While we may be inconvenienced a bit, we should count ourselves lucky that we are fighting a virus enemy and not fighting an enemy where we are sending college age students to war in a foreign land.

CNN used b-roll video of tournament during a cancellation story. Showed a bracket with Wichita St. v. La Salle.

Short version, 83, is yes, you're missing a whole lot. Its "the flu", but without a vaccine and with a 15-20% hospitalization rate, which will have a domino effect with regards to everyone who would have been needing treatment without the virus' existence. As far as the lack of confirmed cases in NYC and everywhere else, you can't confirm what you don't test. Celebrities aren't getting this at a higher rate; celebrities are being tested and reported on at a higher rate. To my knowledge, this sort of virus and the necessary response is unprecedented in our lifetimes and I'd urge you to take it seriously if you're going to be around any older people, people with compromised immune systems or people with existing high-risk conditions. Odds are most people will be fine, but you don't get a do-over if being cavalier ends up costing someone else.

Nice article about Joe Mihalich posted tonight: www.inquirer.com/college-sports/la-salle/hofstra-pride-coach-joe-mihalich-former-lasalle-assistant-ncaa-tournament-cancelation-no-date-march-madness-20200313.htmlFormer La Salle assistant Joe Mihalich helping his Hofstra players cope with NCAA Tournament cancellationâWe are gutted. We are devastated. Itâs like somebody ripped your heart out,â Mihalich, the former La Salle player and assistant coach, said Friday in a telephone interview.
âWhen I met with the team, the basic message was, âListen, guys, thereâs a world health crisis right now, a pandemic. The conclusion was from a lot of sporting people, whether itâs the NBA or college basketball, that we have to do our part to not make the problem worse, and thatâs the reason for these decisions.ââWith each passing day, this thing snowballed,â he said. âWhen they canceled those Power 5 tournaments, our hope became, âPostpone it. Youâve still got to play this thing, letâs figure out how. If it canât be next week, letâs figure out how.âMihalich said he hears from Wright âall the time,â and felt certain his team would be going against Villanova in the first round of the NCAAs because âthey love that stuff.â

Lunardi just released his mock bracket for selection Sunday after the league said it wasn't interested in bursting anyone's bubbles.
16 Robert Morris/16 Boston at 1 Dayton 12 Richmond at 5 Butler
Two bid league. I figured he would have Richmond in.
Elsewhere: 14 Hofstra at 3 Villanova

His bracket fails to take into account that we were peaking and going to run the table in the A10 Tournament.

His bracket fails to take into account that we were peaking and going to run the table in the A10 Tournament. So you're saying we can officially retire the "If only Donnie hadn't got sick." and replace it with "If only they hadn't cancelled..."?

No number 12 beating a 5 seed but yet it happens at least once every year since I can remember. The big upsets come on the first 2 days of the tournament.

www.inquirer.com/health/coronavirus/coronavirus-covid-19-college-sports-economic-impact-20200327.htmlBill Bradshaw is quoted. The article speculates as to the possibility of conferences with long term facility rentals (like Barclays Center, for example) being potentially impacted by guarantee fees as well as lost revenues from cancellation of the conference tournament. Hopefully, there is some relief in the contract or else an extension if it gets negotiated in that way. Article speculates in the best case scenario that the "facilities arms race" may "slow to a crawl" and that in the worst case scenario some schools may even drop athletics.

Article was a little scary. Tough times for AD's.
Somehow, I missed the fact that G was named the Interim AD at Rowan in June of last year. The original announcement said after a year Rowan would make a decision to do a national search or to have G do the job permanently. G's skill set had him positioned well to be successful in his life after La Salle.

G took the position on short notice at the time as a favor to the President who asked him to consider the position. The Athletics Department was facing criticism for sexual misconduct by a staff member(s). I don't remember any other details being mentioned.

Now, I remember reading an article that somebody had linked to the board. I don't recall if was actual misconduct or that the old AD was just insensitive to valid complaints about members of the football team making sexually charged comments while a female Spring sports team was working out in their vicinity. In any event it was G to the rescue. Interestingly enough, it is the second time G got an assignment because a predecessor didn't properly handle sexual misconduct complaints.

To think, some here were a decade ahead on the âG as ADâ train.
