I don't think that's the shot we drew up in the timeout.

And that’s why you don’t put the ball in Deas hands.

A lot of heartache if you are a La Salle fan. It never seems to let up.

Great battle to the end. Not a great shot at the end, but good defense by SLU.
Ed is an animal. 24 and 18 (9 offensive, 9 defensive). We were losing the rebounding battle most of the night, but ended +5

That Hikim kid killed us in overtime. Bad pass decisions, throwing passes at player's feet, he wanted to be the hero and tried to take the ball to the hoop when he had no shot. Ugh! Croswell may have finally arrived as a player, based upon this game and the steady improvement he's shown up to this point.

The last possession was terrible! That was not a play...Spencer got and dribble towards half court and just gave it to Deas hoping he can make a play way away from the basket where St. Louis was waiting for penetration knowing they need a 2...This team should have a inbounds play where Ed got the ball and make a play...Ash does a terrible job of staying with or finding the hot hand...They lost the game in the very beginning of OT when your freshman turns the ball over twice when Saul should have been in the game...

Just back from the game. Some positives: - it was great to see us fight back after going down 10 - Turnovers in regulation were well below our season average - Croswell and Deas played great...Deas put the team on his back during one stretch of the 2nd half to help close the gap - small crowd, but they were into as, as were the students
We need to drive the ball to the basket. In the first half we didn't and we took bad shots. When we drove in the second half, we drew fouls and had better looks. We also played better in man than zone...I'm not sure why we switched back to zone in OT, since we closed the gap playing man. We gave up too many open 3s in zone, along with some easy layups.
The 3 at the end was not Shaggy's fault. He was passed the ball 30 feet from the basket with about 3.5 seconds left and SLU shut down the lanes so he had to chuck it. They played a good physical defense in those last 20 seconds to keep us from getting an easy look. I'm not sure why we didn't go down low to Ed and let him just muscle in like he had been doing. It also made no sense to me to have the shortest guy on the floor in-bounding the ball under our net with 10 seconds left.

I would have liked a drive to the basket for a final shot..... layup or get fouled.

Ed's game
If there were a website that tracked phantom foul calls I think Ed would lead the country this year. He is a physical player but without an established reputation or Jay Wright to whine the refs into submission I believe his game has been notably handicapped by the officiating. Last night I think we saw what he can do with a fair whistle.

“David Beatty throws it off the bottom of the backboard. You’re watching La Salle basketball on ESPN+.” The was the worst of all the infinite number of scenarios that could have happened. Everyone around me just looked around like....SLU will probably now score in-bounding it under their own basket with 0.8 left...and this is our lot in life.

Saul should have been in the game during overtime for Hikim saul is a great kid and i hope that he finds a way to get back to the way he played last year and earlier this season. he has really struggled since the start of a10 play. the reason this team had to play uphill the entire game was mainly because of him. he played poorly again last night and it wasn't until coach ash sat him down that the team came back. and a couple of hikim's turnovers in the ot were as much or more the fault of spencer (who turned his back on the play) and deas (the pass was low but it was catchable, he should have used both hands to try to grab it) than it was hikim's. that loss really hurt.

Last night I think we saw what he can do with a fair whistle. yes, this was the first game in a while that ed got a fair shake on the defensive end. but the offensive end was another matter. he should have been going to the line for and one's on at least 2-3 more of his baskets. different ending if that happens.

Saul should have been in the game during overtime for Hikim Completely disagree with this take. The comeback started when Ash put Hakim back in the game since sitting with 3 fouls. He fueled the comeback by causing St. Louis all kinds of problems with his quickness and drive and dish plays. The offense really struggled when he sat after his second foul in the first half and third foul earlier in the second half. Kid plays with toughness and brings a lot of weapons. He does need to avoid the tendency to try to make the perfect or sometime borderline impossible pass and to make unforced turnovers. That will come with maturity and experience but he absolutely had to be in the game in the OT and it would have been foolish to sit him. As said somewhere else in this thread, one of the turnovers was probably not his fault anyway. Also, not having Kenny really hurt at times. Would have given us another ball handler but nothing you can do about injuries. On another subject, Ed was a monster and was not at all intimidated by French. Shows what he can do when he can stay on the floor. Fantastic game against an opponent with a tough front court.

Because even imperfect quantification is fun, Croswell's game score is 10th of the decade, 2nd best this year behind when Deas went off on Morgan State.
