Going to the WBB game on December 9th at U of North Texas. Wish MBB would come to this area or someplace close.

I had no idea Edwards red-shirted last year. I need to do a better job keeping tabs on the women's team. Anyone have a good outlook on them?

Bet your sorry you asked Dept. Sad to relate, the ( 5 - 11, 0 - 3 ) Lady Explorers have lost their last 5 games in a row entering A-10 Conference play going into tomorrow's 1 pm. home game against equally struggling St. Bonaventure ( 6 - 10, 1 - 3 ). Defying logic, the Lady Explorers are currently 1 - 5 while playing at home. It appears thus far that as goes the 3 pt. FG % of Senior SG Amy Griffin and freshman PG Shaquana Edwards ( both of whom have been uncharacteristically inconsistent from one game to the next ) so goes the team's chances for success.
In other somewhat disconcerting news, it appears that Denmark native 6'-1" junior SF Anemone Scheel has left the team in December under circumstances which have not been disclosed or announced. Ms Scheel and MBB's Amar Stukes were honored as La Salle University basketball's A-10 scholar-athletes at the conclusion of last season.

I got interested in what Williams’ winning percentage is in his tenure. I think he’s 85-127 before this year or .400. Is that right? Geez

Defying logic, the Lady Explorers are currently 1 - 5 while playing at home.
In non revenue sports I suppose that "home court advantage" is much less without there being an abundance of fan support. Here, the tangible advantage to playing at TGA is sleeping in your own bed last night and not have to sit on a bus to drive 6 hours the previous night. Meanwhile the opponent is staying at the Hilton on the main line and has effectively a 20 minute bus ride. So, out with the dead legs theory because the opposing team isn't going to play jetlagged, they're actually pampered. And they get to run practice twice in our empty gym and come home with a win. Going into the Palestra last year and winning on a buzzer beater was shocking. I, unlike the OP, did not have hopes for a breakout season. I was just hoping for marginal improvement over last year and avoiding the 0-3 sweep by the Hawks which really put a damper on last year's otherwise promising season. When overhype doesn't pan out accordingly, that's the biggest disappointment.

Women’s team has totally underachieved. La Salle has 2 basketball coaches that are sub .500 in their careers after extended time in their positions. Says a lot about the university’s commitment to winning.

The anemic Lady Explorers ( 6-13, 1-5 A10 ) lost 72 - 63 to the lowly ( 3-17, 1-6 A10 ) Rhode Island Lady Rams this afternoon before a national television audience at the Ryan Center.
Taking a page from La Salle's MBB team's porous defense, the Lady Explorers allowed 5'- 9" freshman guard Marta Vargas from Lisbon, Portugal to score her career high of 26 points on national television.

I watched the game today. The men’s team looks like it is coached by John Wooden compared to the women’s team. Just brutal.

I'd like to forget this season. I did not even tune in for the annual TV game.
29. 13. 16. 28. 9. (To a Rhody team that came in 2-17 on the season)
These are the margins of losses in conference. With VCU and St Joe's (twice) still on deck.
Dreadful.

I looked at Coach Williams record last night after this loss and in 8 seasons he has 91 wins. I don't see him getting to that 100 win mark. Is it too much to ask for more than one winning season and average less than 12 wins a season. Time to make a change.

In the sole campus downer athletically this Philly Super Bowl Weekend, the hapless Lady Explorers ( 7-16, 2-8 A-10 ) lost still another close game 69 - 66 to the eminently beatable Minutewomen of UMass ( 11-12, 3-7 A-10 ) on Sunday afternoon at the Mullins Center.

Sad to relate, behind 18 turnovers, the regressing Lady Explorers ( 8-19, 3-11 A-10 ) got schooled 70 - 49 by the St. Joe's Lady Hawks ( 14-12, 9-5 A-10 ) Saturday afternoon at Hagen Arena. Amy Griffin ( 5-17, 1-1 ) had 11 points playing 39 mins., while Shaquana Edwards ( 1-5, 1-3 ) scored 3 pts playing 27 mins.

In achieving the dreaded 20 loss season mark, the torpid Lady Explorers ( 8-20, 3-12 A-10 ) were outplayed 58 - 51 by the slightly more energetic Davidson Lady Wildcats ( 11-17, 6-9 A-10 ) Wednesday night at TGA.
The Lady Explorers have won only 3 of their last 17 games going back to the Villanova game in mid-December. Tomorrow's away game at George Mason is their final regular season Conference game.
