He's only been here 3 years, found departure at this time interesting. Just got this email from Madame President.
Dear Alumni,
It is with mixed emotions that I share with you that Gary Giamartino has made the decision to leave La Salle University, effective December 31, 2016, in order to pursue other professional opportunities. Gary has been a valued member of the La Salle community since he joined the University in July 2013 as Dean of the School of Business and Professor of Management and Leadership. Gary came to La Salle with a deep knowledge of the Christian Brothers as a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse, N.Y., part of the Lasallian education network. Gary brought his significant experience as Dean at two other institutions to La Salle where his leadership has been instrumental in elevating business education to new levels of achievement and recognition. Among his many accomplishments as Dean are:
Leading the School successfully through AACSB reaccreditation in 2014;
Leading the educational program planning and implementation efforts for the design and move into Founders’ Hall, the new School of Business building that opened in January 2015;
The development and implementation of a school-based development model. The model served the School of Business well resulting in important program initiatives involving technology and the Entrepreneurship Center;
Refocusing and expanding entrepreneurship education at La Salle University including securing external funding for the La Salle Center for Entrepreneurship;
Having the School of Business recognized in 2016 for the first time by Princeton Review as one of the 294 Best Business Schools.
I know you join me in thanking Gary for his many contributions to La Salle and in wishing him well in his new endeavors. In the days ahead, Provost Brian Goldstein will conduct a process to name an Interim Dean and then to complete an international search for a permanent Dean. Details of a celebration for Gary to wish him well will be forthcoming.
