Once you’re a politician, you’re judged as a politician, not your prior military service. (Incidentally it’s funny that the pearl clutching about criticism of Congress people who previously served- like Cotton or that chooch Crenshaw from Texas, never extends to Tammy Duckworth, because she’s a female Democratic POC, but I digress).
We should absolutely be able to honor our nations fallen regardless of politics, but it’s impossible to separate from politics in many regards. And a guy like Cotton is actively pushing for yet another pointless war in the Middle East, which would obviously lead to us having a whole lot more people to honor on Memorial Day, and ceremonies at Arlington, so he can take a deep-knee bend.
