Do th enew Big east 7 teams come to the a10/ does anyone know what they will do when they leave/

There are so many scenarios it's not worth to speculate anymore. A conference, if not the A10, has the opportunity to be the greatest city basketball league in the country with:
GW
Georgetown
La Salle
Villanova
St. Joe's
St. John's
Providence
Fordham
Add in UPENN, Manhattan and Drexel and I would be in heaven with so many cross city rivalries.

My understanding, I would love for this to be wrong, is that the seven schools are staying together and forming a new conference. I'm starting to worry that our best case scenario is that they only raid our western branch (we lose X, Dayton, Butler, and SLU) and take Creighton instead of VCU to round out the bunch. We could salvage a depleted, but ok league with them, SJU, and us, with UMass staying at least a few years and Richmond getting stronger. Try and poach a couple of the better programs from other leagues that are the next tier down - CAA, MAAC, etc. It's not even close to the league we have right now, but that's probably the absolute best we can hope for. |

Milwaukee Journal Sentinal's website stating 7 teams are gone and Xavier and Butler already committed to join them. New league will have 10 or 12 teams with St. Louis, Creighton, Dayton also potential new members.

Anyone have any idea what the financial penalties are for teams that are defecting the A10?

I've read the penalty is between 750K and 1 Mil. Temple paid 1 Mil.
