Didn't see one started and wanted to get it going...slow day at work pre-Holiday and all.
- St Francis was picked to win the NEC - looks like the plan was in line with recent history of scheduling teams from lower tier conferences that were expected to win a lot of games....St Francis is 0-3
- #1 Brent Jones seems to make the offense go for the Franny's - he drops 11 ppg while dishing out almost 6 assists per game.
- They will go about 9 players deep with 2 guys averaging 20 MPG off the bench, the other 2 about 13 mins each
- not a lot of size on the squad for them, Antonia Jenifer averages 11+ PPG and is their biggest player at 6-7, they have a couple other guys going about 6-5 & 6-6 and are small in the back court with a couple guys listed at 5-10, including the aforementioned Brent Jones. Kevin Douglas at 6-5 appears to be third member of their core guys averaging about 10PPG
- As a team, Douglas and Jenifer can play away from the basket and drop a couple threes on you, both players are shooting over 50% from outside the arc. As a team overall, however, They shoot it about 33% from outside and 40% overall. Defensively, St Francis gives it up at a pretty good rate of 47% from the floor and 31% from beyond.
- Last time out, the Terriers had Rutgers on the ropes at the RAC and lead with 3 minutes to play before falling by 2. They had the ball for the final shot but didn't get a good look and wound up heaving a three that fell short.
I think the Explos match up well with these guys and if the defensive pressure continues I could see Stukes and Lewis with a bunch of steals for easy run-outs and if their wing player want to camp out on the perimeter Roberts, Petersen and Price should be able to switch on everything and keep things going defensively.
If Zack is playing, I wouldn't be surprised to see a double-double out of him, the rebounds will be there, just a matter of getting good shots.
I have a feeling we might see some extended minutes out of Shuler tonight if the bigger guys can't keep Jones in front of them. Size-wise it feels like a decent matchup for him.
This is the kind of game that would be a great opportunity to get the offense cooking before a couple tough games this weekend and get a little momentum heading into December. In theory, we should beat a team like this by 15+ points, but given the offensive struggles who know what will happen.
If the shooting breaks out, it's going to get late early for the Terriers, hopefully we don't let them hang around. Looking forward to it, the crowd is probably going to be pathetic, at least I'll be able to stretch out!!
