Getting an early start since the game is next Monday evening.
The Rams traveled down to James Madison and beat them 79-76. Not sure how good either team is? You have to respect a D-2 squad (with HOF Head Coach) who take that long bus ride to Harrisonburg and grab a victory.

exhibition game or no exhibition game. I expect to beat up a D2 opponent by 20 pts, just to get the season off on the right note.

I know we had a "secret" scrimmage against Princeton yesterday. Curious how that went. Princeton should be a decent team in the Ivy.

I know we had a "secret" scrimmage against Princeton yesterday. Curious how that went. Princeton should be a decent team in the Ivy. I work with one of the officials who did the game and he says to me "you boys are in trouble" I didn't even know they were playing and then when I asked him more he said "you got back doored all day" This doesn't concern me so much since we don't know who was playing or how the scrimmage was being handled. Zach and Wright are experienced enough where are front court should be pretty solid. I am worried about depth. I noticed that huge guy (Davis) is not on the roster anymore. If Wright or Zach get hurt or in foul trouble, Brown is the only person coming off the bench (and he is what, 6' 6"?)

Tony Washington is 6'11 and while he didn't look great in the exhibition on the offensive end, defensively he looked very good. And that's where this team will win. Also, Princeton runs that backdoor flowing offense. G always has a tough opponent with a great skill for those scrimmages. Princeton last 4 and VCU before that (Havoc D being specialty). We do play a few teams like Princeton, but as a first scrimmage that happens, G wants to start with the toughest stuff then everything gets easier. Same reason we play a team like Philly U, they can shoot the ball unreal. And it'll prepare the team for Colgate, which is a shooting team.

That's why you scrimmage Princeton. G will stress the mental discipline of defense. From the looks of the Philly U game, he must have made an impression. Good game to point to when we play Richmond.
What an experience for the two young guards going up against Princeton offense. Priceless as the say.

Hmmm, first post by someone who registered this morning, doesn't even know Steve's name or that Tony is even on the team. But he knows one of the refs from the Princeton scrimmage. Sorry, not buying it (and Phila U didn't get one backdoor basket on Monday night).

kjmac12 .... definitely skeptical, however, it is very possible with 5 new players, that they got beat backdoor. It's not a traditional defense and everyone gets beat backdoor against Princeton to some degree, but 1. that is better than giving up the 3s on the screen away read which is either back door or pop out for a 3, and its a scrimmage for a reason. Very tough to know exactly what to expect. I doubt we were routinely getting beat backdoor. As guys like DJ, steve, Rohan, and Khalid are all experienced and pretty good defenders that have seen this multiple times. I think we are fine. And no team is going to learn the Princeton offense just to beat us. Takes their own players usually a year to learn. That's why freshman rarely register a lot of minutes, tough concept.

first, the website said Tony Washington was a redshirt freshmen so i didnt know if he was eligible or not. Second, Im talking about the Princton game, not tge Philly U game. Third, I just told you what the official said. I asked more and he said Washington wad good (he described him as a muscular 210, not a bean pole) but he said the defense looked bad.
I was just responding to a question thst someone asked about how the scrimage went. I heard we were backdoored all day. Now, this official is always negative so he could be over exaggerating just to piss me off. (he is a redskins fan and he gets busted on all fall)

Either way, who cares? It's a closed-to-the-public pre-season scrimmage.

I bet we were instructed to let them do good so they'd feel good about themselves and want to come back and play again next year.
