@jonrothstein: Greetings from North Philadelphia. Here for La Salle practice. Will the Explorers regain their edge in 14-15?
@jonrothstein: La Salle has arguably the best PF/C combo in the Atlantic 10 in Jerrell Wright and Steve Zack. Multi year starters. Great chemistry.
@jonrothstein: The buzz surrounding Auburn transfer Jordan Price is warranted. Big time talent who should be a double-figure scorer. Great get for LaSalle.
@jonrothstein: Early prediction on La Salle's starting five --- Amar Stukes, Jordan Price, D.J. Peterson, Jerrell Wright, Steve Zack....
@jonrothstein: Amar Stukes is going to remind people of former Iona PG Scott Machado. Red shirted last season. Terrific passer. High IQ. Solid player.
@jonrothstein: So much Scott Machado in Amar Stukes...

@jonrothstein: La Salle looks like a middle of the pack Atlantic 10 team that will be in a lot of 60-60 games with 4 mins to go. Overall team edge is key.
@jonrothstein: Khalid Lewis is noticeably healthier. Dealt with a wrist injury + turf toe in 13-14. Could be a valuable perimeter piece for LaSalle.
@jonrothstein: LaSalle will be a better outside shooting team next season. Why? Jordan Price and Cleon Roberts. Both can extend the defense. Deep range.

@jonrothstein: Biggest thing I take away from La Salle? Jerrell Wright is in by far the shape of his college career. Will be a first team All-A10 player.
@jonrothstein: The Atlantic 10 is a mystery after VCU. League is beyond close 2-14. Non conference slate will determine the league's potential NCAA bids.

Good job. Saw his tweets but didn't have time to make a post. Good stuff from Rothstein always.
He's at Temple now. I will await his tweet later about how he just finished eating 4 cheesesteaks. (For those who don't follow him, he's always posting about these absolutely enormous and delicious meals he eats).

We are in trouble if Peterson is starting over Roberts and also believe Shuler is better suited at 1 position than A. Stukes. Rothstein although very positive in his reporting is also usually wrong in many of his assumptions. Zack, Wright, Price, Roberts and Shuler I believe is our best starting five after first ten games or so. Nothing against D. J. but if you are still winding up to shoot at the age of 22 something is radically wrong with your technique. Amar is better suited as a 2 position player but he can't be a 2 because he shoots poorly so number 1 position it is along with J. Shuler. G has a good group of players but the question is how they play together. See Rothstein barely mentions Roberts and doesn't mention Davis or Washington.

There seem to be virtually zero in significant big men for 2015 and beyond so far (maybe Washington). Are there any hints of significant recruiting for beyond this coming year?

Not sure why you think Stukes is better suited as a 2. His best position is the point. He scored a lot his senior year in high school because his team needed him to. No one here has seen Shuler enough to know if he should start ahead of Stukes, but unless he's considerably better, which I doubt, he won't. Stukes has a redshirt year under his belt practicing against college players every day and he's gotten bigger and stronger. And I have no problem with D.J. starting. If he does start, it will be because of his defense, passing ability and experience more than anything. Cleon Roberts will still get starter's minutes. Having an offensive sparkplug like him to come off the bench is a great luxury. Look how good the 2012-13 team was because they had Garland to fill that role. Last year's team didn't have anyone to do that. Now we actually have a long, athletic guy who can not only get to the rim but can also light it up from deep to take that spot.

Very positive report by Jon Roth. We have the pieces to compete just a matter if its enough to return to the tourney. I always say D.J is probably the most unappreciated guy on the team. Last year really affected his image I think with a lot of you. He is not going to give you a consistent 12 points, he never will be that type of player . I think how inefficient the team was last year really hurt him. I would love to see how many times he passed it to Garland who took a god awful shot. Also he is a very good defensive player which KJmac already stated. I also don't want to get to into what the "new" guys are best at what because hey none of us seen these guys play together or know how capable they are at their respective positions. I think last year Zack and Wright learned how to play better with one another but as I said before the guard play really hurt everyone.
I think one of the best things tweeted today was regarding Khalid Lewis. We never really got a good impression of him due to his injuries. I think between him and Cleon they could be very valuable pieces off the bench. I bet Roberts starts a number of games over perhaps DJ.
IF I were to take a guess at potential starting lineups
Best Offensive Stukes, Roberts, Price, Wright and Zack
Best Defensive DJ, Price, Lewis, Wright and Zack
However perceptions can change. What I think will be the case is this team will be better all around, shooting, rebounding and defensively. Someone or maybe a couple will emerge between Brown, Lewis, Washington and Shuler. I also think defense will be the hidden story on this team, we are bigger and Lewis, Zack and DJ could create a lot of problems for opposing teams. I think the shooting will be good especially if the bench really can contribute. How good I am not sure.
My 5 questions with this team are:
Who is the 6th man Lewis, DJ or Cleon?
Will Brown, Washington and Shuler be able to contribute?
How MUCH better will the guards be especially from deep?
Can G win those close games he couldn't last year?
Will Amar be as special of a player this year as we all hope?

Kjmac, Stukes and Shuler will play #1 spot but if Stukes was a good shooter I think he would have made a nice 2 position player. You are correct we don't know if Stukes or Shuler are better at this time but they both seem to be pretty talented which is a nice problem to have. Shuler is probably quicker and shoots very well but Stukes has better size which won't mean much if he doesn't shoot better. Roberts is much better on offense than Peterson and can create somewhat where DJ can't. I like DJ but Roberts has got to play 25 minutes plus every game along with Price. I say put the pressure on our opponent by having the best offense on the floor as long as possible which also happens to be our best rebounding team with Zack, Wright, Price and Roberts. Still believe Washington will be a pleasant surprise and much more athletic than Davis with better basketball skills. Forget about who the sixth or seventh man is because this team can easily go nine deep and who goes in first will depend on size and speed of our opponent..

Siteexplorer I would hardly say that I was being super negative but if you think DJ being a starter is good news so be it. I think we all know at this point DJ stuggles on the offensive end and Amar is just not a goos shooter but that doesn't mean Stukes can't fix it but after watching T.Garland I am not very encouraged. Funny for someone who has posted as often as you do knows so little.

No it wasn't meant at you as much as the offseason is the time for optimism whether its misguided or not and right away we're analyzing the minutia of what Rothstein said. Let's avoid the personal shots until we get closer to the season shall we?
