That the only sound on this messageboard is crickets on the day before what back in November was expected to be the most eagerly anticipated, biggest La Salle A - 10 Conference game and toughest ticket of the regular season.

Yes it is fairly amazing to see the difference between winning and losing. Tomorrow is a winning day. Look at the rest of the schedule. Win tomorrow, beat St. Joe at home, beat Dayton, best Richmond (w/o Lindsey), beat the Bonnies at home, beat Fordham, beat Mason at home, possible loss to St. Joe at their house. That is 19-13. Go Explorers.
PS: the Dayton win is because I will be there.

I'm all for it, but that's a lot of winning.

I agree, but why not. As noted the schedule assists us. Now we need to assist us.

We've had some gut punches lately. I'm in the group that has been posting a lot less, choosing to not post over venting. Yea it's a little fair weather but I feel anything I'd say is already being expressed. We're all going through a rough time here especially with where our expectations were. I'm rooting for a NIT berth and doing some damage there but that even looks like we need to do some work here in the rest of conf play

If you don't have something good to say, don't say it at all? It's tough seeing the season unravel with disjointed play when I like these players so much. I would rather not patronize them by making excuses. Something seemed visibly shaken and different about this year from the start and I don't think the chemistry is there. G's frustration from the early games turned to apathy after the VCU game and rightfully so. I want to see Duren, Garland and Mills finish this year with more success in the A10 tournament. I want to see cohesiveness and solid team play that takes advantage of the veteran players by that point in time. I will be glad to get a win in Brooklyn. As far as post season, the goal is out of reach. As far as a win tomorrow? hopefully garland, peterson or mills find their stroke and surprise me. Look, before last year we hadn't beat a ranked team in 20+ years? We have a chance play a #13, that we know well, at home tomorrow. It's a huge opportunity and I will be watching. If they win I will be posting. I can't make any promises otherwise. that said, I leave you with a stat sheet from 54' with Gola averaging 23.9 pts and 21.7 rbds. www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/la-salle/1954.html . respect.

The thing that stands out to me from all the clips during the Gola years was the movement of the players and passing. Unfortunately something we will need today versus St. Louis. I heard Dan Dakich (sic?) during the SLU-Dayton game earlier this year say the way to beat SLU is the second pass. Get them to chase. Let's see if we do that?

Hate I say it, but going in to the year, even the most optimistic "28 and 3 " fans had this as one of the 3. And now on addition to our struggles, St. Louis is even better than we thought they'd be.
I really don't even see this being all that competitive today. I still think this team is playing hard and will win a few games, I just don't see today being one of them.

Vegas would disagree and they have been correct about these "blow out" games with the Explorers this season. See: VCU. Granted, the Rams covered, but it took a collapse to get there. The line is sitting at four. I would have put it at about 12. Realtimerpi.com has the Explorers losers by one point, 67-66. Very peculiar.

I certainly think we have the talent to be an NIT team and this is a worthy goal. And yes we really have some major work to do to make this achievable. And if it is not to be... the season is not over. Not living up to expectations has certainly had an effect on we the faithful as you mention. But watching the way they are playing I also think it has struck a major blow to the team's confidence. Certainly a factor in the way the team is playing from where I sit. I think the coaches have a tough job here. My guess is there is a lot of dissapointment. But, we need to regroup, get over it and commit to being the best we can be. We may not be a top tier A10 team but we are certainly better than we have been playing. Love to see us play competitively today. Stay within striking distance and see if we can steal one at crunch time. If not a victory, be competitive! If we go on to beat St Joes! Most of us are dancing like we won the world seris! NCAA and NIT aside there is alot to play for. Heck, each game is a season unto itself! That is the way it has been for La Salle fans for decades. Play for self respect. Last year was an anomaly, an NCAA berth has not been a norm for us.

Feels like a happiness hedge game, right? Bet St. Louis and either buy a La Salle win or get a decent dinner or something out of it. Or we lose by 2 and everything sucks forever.

I think I had 24 wins or something crazy before the season started and always thought this was a loss. Although most of the truly awful performances, maybe all, have been on the road, so I don't think we'll get run off the floor.
As far as how quiet the board is, I think it's not just the losing but the fact that losing always seems to result in people questioning each other as fans and the tone getting really nasty. The last two seasons really covered that up, but we used to do it on the scout board.

I think it is important not to be overly critical now. Will accomplish nothing. Lets see how it ends up and plenty of time for season ending analysis. Only thing I will say is want to see an abundance of confidence instead of a crisis of confidence. Good time to pass out Pres. Kennedy's book SIX CRISIS'.Hope its the right spelling.

I know we have lost 4 of 5, but how is this possible against #13 team in country?? On a Saturday! Per Twitter:
"It's GAMEDAY at Gola! #LaSalleMBB vs #13 Saint Louis on ESPN2 at 5 pm. Students, tickets are still available at the door. Wear gold!"

I'm valiantly trying to remember that this is the week last year that we turned our season around.
(but it's tough - very tough)
Who REALLY thought in late November that there would be tickets available against a top 15 team?

What is also amazing is 40 minutes before the game and no activity on the game thread or are all of you at the game. Seems like everyone has given up on the team.

Can't really blame the fans for the lack of passion or interest in hoops at this point.

It is easy to be a fan when everything is going well. It is now that the team and players need the support.

But "board chatter" is relatively incidental to the team's play, last March being the exception. The board BLOWS UP when things are going bad, see the 10 page St. Bonnie's Game Thread. A lot of home games are quiet because people are at the game. Couple that with it being on TV, and a lot of people aren't at their computers.

That said, today was a really good effort by the boys, but yet again the end result was crushing. Also, the board BLOWS UP when we win big games as well. Problem is we haven't had many of them this season, but we have had a number of disappointing losses. We are currently sitting at 12-11 (4-5 in the A-10). Not many opportunities for the board to BLOW UP in a positive way with our record.
