Not sure Randy Woods qualifies as "lesser" given that he was a mid-first round NBA draft pick.
jack Hurd. Paul Burke. Ramon Gallaway. Rich Tarr
Agree that guys like Paul Johnson and Mike St John would come up way short

Some of these responses are ridiculous, Ralph Lewis and Randy Woods played albeit briefly in the NBA. I would say Walt Sampson, no one remembers him, he transferred from a Texas J.C. He was the 6'8" rebounder of those early to mid 60s teams. Or Ron Kennedy, he also transferred from Dodge City J.C. in Kansas, he was forced into a starting role when Pleas was academically ineligible and did OK. How about Kevin Lynam? He was pressed into a starting point guard role when Daryl Gladden was ineligible in 79-80 and managed to lead LaSalle to the NCAA's. Or my pick, Ed Szczesny, he basically won the 69 Villanova game when he replaced Stan Wlodarczyk (foul trouble) so admirably.

Jim Phelan & Larry Foust. As an 8-time NBA All - Star, Larry Foust qualifies as a supernova. No one has mentioned Bill Raftery thus far.

bill raftery is a different topic, no one remembers this now but raftery was probably the #1 high school recruit in the nation that year, i guess it was 60-61 you can correct me. He had a serious knee injury thereafter but still had a good college career. And you are correct, Larry Foust was 6'9" when most centers were 6'4" and was an all american and 10 year nba star who is totally forgotten. but not exactly a lesser star which was the topic.

Butts and Greenburg, kinda expected more from them.
If Lynam and Webster are on the list, may as well include Mo Connally and Kurt Kanaske to round out a pretty good team from 79-80.
Without looking it up, I recall Ralph Lewis being in the pros from a good 4-5 years. Was not a bad pro player. Randy Woods...not so much..

Need to add a qualifier - Players not making it to the NBA (appearance in at least one regular season game).
I'd include some of the more recent 1,000 point scorers... Black, Greenburg, Larry Koretz, Rich Tarr, Hurd, Townes, Carr, Victor Thomas, Julian Blanks, Jermaine Thomas. None of these were superstars but all were at the star level for most of their Explorer careers.

In fairness, Truck was robbed of his senior year by, IIRC, getting caught in an obscure NCAA rule about games he had played post-graduate and was declared ineligible.
