I'm still reeling from Sunday's loss. I propose we hire a good " Bench Coach!". All the greats used one at various times during their career. Wooden used them, Smith, Danny Few i just to name a few. Bobby Knight only had bench coaches when he ran a National Team ( Coach K in The Pan Am Games...Knight's ego. never allowed that set up in college.)
My candidate for our Bench Coach? Willam Morris. " El Speedy"..
Let Dr. g be the face, frontman, spokesperson. RECRUITER EXTRODINARE'. Let Speedy do the XXX OOO's during a game. Watch a Pro game during time outs, who does most of the talking usually? Not the head coach!
Speedy seems to have forgiven La Salle. And Loves coaching. He couldn't recruit, but he has forgotten more about basketball than 90% of those out there today really know.
Bring him back!

Our best bench coaches have been Steve Smith and Earl Pettis.

Maybe it's just me, but when I started following LaSalle basketball I saw no coaching done by Speedy. This was the offense:
Give the ball to Donnie...Donnie, score.
Donnie, if you don't have a shot, shoot it anyway...
Donnie, you're the offense...

Donnie's sick? Rasual, you shoot a 3 or dunk 2/3 of the time, Victor, you do the other 1/3. Good.

The ugly offense of the Donnie Carr era (particularly early in his career before Victor, K'Zell and Rasual arrived) was the result of a brutal lapse in recruiting (which is, admittedly, part of the job). We quickly went from the dreams of an offense with Kobe, Rip and Donnie to the reality of Jasper, Olof and Donnie.

As Info, Just heard from one of Speedy's dramatically tossed sport coats that was tragically lost will be showing up for the Novena on behalf of Gnocchi getting his manhhood back tonight. Not sure if it will be speaking or just there to pray.
