Was wondering if I could interest any of you here in La Salle fall sports appreciation days, perhaps a tailgate or an unofficial explorer club road trip. Since admission to most of the games is free, it is an easy budget friendly commitment! In looking at our M & W soccer rosters/schedules, it seems like 2013 will be La Salle's best year for soccer. The men's and women's teams are just loaded with talented seniors, particularly John McCarthy and Jason Plumhoff on the men's side, and Renee Washington for the women. These are irreplaceable veteran talents. Both John and Jason played summer league for the Reading United which had only one loss in 14 games and finished runner up in their league. Let's all just get out and support them along the way: Men's Soccer ScheduleWomen's Soccer Schedule

WSOC seems to get the opponents best effort (are you paying attention MBB). Winning the games (except PSU) but have to be concerned the offense isn't clicking yet.
MSOC is 1-2-2. Not off to stellar start but it's all about league play.
Back to WSOC interesting pattern? Played Maryland, UVA and PSU close in the last couple of years only to allow a goal and then see the floodgates open. Need to get over that hump.

Need to get over that hump. @penn State They just didn't play all that close, it just seemed like Penn State wasted many of their early opportunities and then finally they passed the ball around in the second half instead of targeting the goal on every possession. The victory over Villanova was the first since 2000. Even though the offense didn't create enough shot opportunities, it was great to see the defense hold up against Nova. UConn and Lehigh on the road this week are a tremendous test.

Women's Volleyball currently riding a 12 match losing streak.
Anyone know a girl on the team or follow? Is this just growing pains? Does anyone care?

I can't remember volleyball ever being good in the last 10 years or so.
WSOC received 2 votes in the coaches poll - good enough for #40 in the country. Big week for them.

1 PM this Saturday men's soccer vs. LEHIGH. I'm looking forward to this one. Will any of you be there? Drexel game last night was a missed opportunity. However, this squad has a tendency to turn it up in A10's, which keeps me optimistic.
The women return to Lehigh on Monday in another anticpated local match-up. The women have won two straight in the annual Lehigh series, both by a goal.

So is the volleyball team just that bad or what? It seems like they are lucky to even win just 1 set in a match this year.

Does anyone really want to bring anything different to the conversation about the volleyball team at La Salle? This is supposed to be an appreciation thread, not beating a dead horse. Not asking anyone to leave, I just wish there were new subject matter other than "the volleyball team lost, again." It makes it difficult to want to support them when everyone is so down on them.
Back to soccer... The men and women both shut out Lehigh over the past weekend, and the defense continues to dominate as expected this season for both La Salle teams.
I would really like us to send some fellow supporters out there for the women's/men's doubleheader with SJU on Friday October 18 at 5PM, as well as the Dayton rematch on November 1. Over 1200 people came to the Dayton match last time they were here two years ago, during a Phillies playoff game. This year could maybe even eclipse that.

(p.s Congratulations to your Hawklets on their state football title.) Aww thanks! Anyhow, Caitlin Rimgaila is the new hire for volleyball. Her credentials include assistant coaching at Bucknell and Lehigh, and she played for St John's.
