Sorry for the superfluous thread, but I was just thinking about the next few weeks and how it's probably the most exciting few weeks we've had in a while (not that that's saying much). 4-0 on the year, heading to playing probably the biggest name program in College Basketball, in a very famous building tonight on TV. Will we be competitive? Probably not, but even if we're down less than 10 at the Under 8 Time Out in the first half or something, we get to enjoy ourselves for a little while.
Then a game at home Coppin St. Sunday that hopefully gets us back in the win column after a likely loss tonight. Then into a game against Temple next Wednesday night that's got some juice to it, with a chance to win our pod and get a spot in the Big 5 Championship Game. Even with a loss there, next Saturday is the Triple-Header at Wells Fargo Center. My only hope there is that even if we lose to Temple, we get a game that's a true third place game, rather than criss-crossing in order to avoid St. Joe's (PA). Obviously that pod may get complicated so it's tough to figure that part out yet, and of course I'd prefer playing for the Championship.
Just a definite change of pace from what our Non-Con is usually like right around. And the fact that we're heading into this stretch 4-0 certainly helps add to the excitement.

There is always excitement playing a top flight program. Back in 79-80 we held our own against the likes of ranked opponents BYU (L), Notre Dame at home (W) and at DePaul (L) who was ranked #1 at the time. Michael Brooks led team with a very good supporting cast, but we had a share of loses and were actually 3-2 leading up to the BYU game in Utah. Being 4-0 adds a bit of excitement to tonights matchup. Tall order to beat the Dukies though. Let's keep it close.

Problem we have no Michael Brooks tonight.
The backcourt hopefully plays well and keep turnovers down. The real concern is getting murdered on the boards 2nd chance points could be very high for Duke tonight. Need to do the little things very well to just stay relatively close.
A good performance tonight, even if we lose could go a long way to helping this team through the rest of the year.

Neumann, are you finally coming around to my non conference scheduling philosophy? Happy Thanksgiving!

Temple can be beat on Wednesday. Dunphy has the basketball coaching IQ to figure it out. If our guys execute the game plan we will have a very good chance of playing for the Big 5 Championship. Win the Big 5 and that will give our guys enough confidence to first achieve a winning season and then possibly something even better in March.
