Not sure how many people on here had him, but Dr. Stephen Longo passed away on Tuesday after an illness. He was a 1965 graduate of La Salle as a Physics major and did his PhD at Notre Dame, coming back to La Salle to teach. I had him as an undergraduate for 2 semesters of Physics, and later had him for a couple of classes as a graduate student in Computer Science. Demanding as a professor and one of the smartest people I ever knew. Once you got to know him, he was one of the funniest people with the driest sense of humor I ever met. I remember in the late 90s I had something published and my bio in the article had me as a graduate of "LaSalle". He had seen the publication and jokingly chastised me for not correcting the proof and having it as "La Salle". Great person, and I donate annually to the endowed scholarship in his name for the Computer Science department. A true La Salle legend who, if you weren't in Holroyd Hall on a regular basis, you probably never knew, but was well respected locally in the Computer Science field, and was responsible for registering "lasalle.edu" and launching the school's first web presence.
