Charity Shears ... Graduate Transfer5'9" Guard, Charity Shears, was West Virginia State's leading scorer this season with 322 points and an 11.9 points per game average. She made the second-most three point field goals and steals on the team with 55 and 43, respectively. A little perplexed. She shot 33% from the field and 29% from 3 at a lower level.
Coach MT has the program going the right way but on the surface there must be something else he likes with her game I don't see from the stats.
Best of luck to her. Hope she leads us to the A-10 championship.

Hope she leads us to the A-10 championship. despite not being a great shooter, she had a solid 4 year career there. was the leading scorer two of those years, and second leading scorer the other two years. at worst, she provides some solid depth for one year. wvsuyellowjackets.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/charity-shears/3027mountain did bring d2 player molly masciantonio into the program and she's been a solid contributor the last two seasons.

This addition would bring the depth chart to 17. I believe the max roster size is 15, which leads me to wonder if there are plans for one or two of the freshmen to redshirt? Or if any active players, besides Morgan who's graduating, have indicated they might not be returning in the fall. I don't have the scoop, this is just some speculation.

Bad News : freshman G Kenya Cote-Lysius, junior G Christina Kline and sophomore C Michelle Kozicki are transferring elsewhere wbbblog.com/womens-basketball-transfers-d-i-2021-22/10/It is obvious that Charity Shears, the new grad student guard transfer from WVS, is being brought in to help fill the opening created by Kenya Cote-Lysius' departure, which I view as a significant loss.

I'm pretty sure that she is on scholarship. She was offered by La Salle in late-Summer of last year after Kate Hill chose not to return ( turned Pro ) and Emilee Tahata's enrollment status and intentions were still undetermined. Carfagno gave up a full-ride soccer scholarship at Jackson State University she had previously committed-to in order to play WBB for La Salle, which I don't think she ( or her parents ) would have done if she was not being offered a full-ride basketball scholarship by La Salle.

Junior center Michelle Kozicki is transferring to D-II West Chester University.
No word yet on where sophomore PG Kenya Cote-Lysius will land.

Per her twitter account, Brianna Barr-Buday, 6'2" Forward, of Nichols School (Buffalo, NY), has just received an offer from La Salle. She'll be going into junior year this coming season.

Sophomore guard Sara Carfagno has now entered the NCAA transfer portal, apparently after the May 1st waiver deadline, which means that unless she transfers down to a D-II or D-III college, she will have to sit out a year in order to regain her eligibility at another D-I WBB Program.

Per her twitter account, Brianna Barr-Buday, 6'2" Forward, of Nichols School (Buffalo, NY), has just received an offer from La Salle. She'll be going into junior year this coming season. She can add that to her prior D-I offers -- as a high school sophomore -- from : St. Joe's ( 5/23/22 ), UMass ( 4/27/22 ), Binghamton ( 4/8/22 ), Canisius ( 10/27/21 ), Niagara ( 6/29/21 ) and U. of Buffalo ( 5/31/21 ). Barr-ing injury, high school junior Barr-Buday ' 24 will continue to ' blow-up ' over this Summer and next season when she is certain to receive a plethora of offers from the ' big dog ' WBB Programs such as UConn, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Syracuse, to name just a few.
