The man's fortitude in the face of so much adversity demands tons of respect. Agree incredible story.

Woah. Share this wide if you can. Shaggy, and also his father, deserve so much credit for what they've gone through. Basketball aside, hes a credit to the La Salle community and I'm very glad he's an Explorer.

Amazing story, really helps you appreciate the person not the basketball player.

what a great kid, or should i say young man. had the chance to talk to him a couple times at events and he's a quality person despite the hardships he's gone through. i'm sure his dad is a proud papa and rightly so.

God bless him and his family. Maybe coach Howard and La Salle could start a small fundraiser so we can get the courts re-painted and all new nets for the park in New York and also for ones in Philly parks.

Really drives home how real-world terrible it would be for the kids to get actual monetary compensation, huh?

Or maybe Phil Knight can do this. New Nike nets, on newly painted courts with the NIKE SWOOSH. Won't even put a dent in his pockets.

Really drives home how real-world terrible it would be for the kids to get actual monetary compensation, huh? I think it is a good idea as long as the State Schools can't over-compensate and outbid the private schools. The athletes will have to pay city wage tax, state tax and Federal income tax also. They will need to file their annual taxes like all other employees also. But it raises questions that haven't been answered. Will they contribute to their healthcare? Will they be able to contribute to a retirement plan? Will they still be given free room and board?
