The Christian Brothers at this meeting argued that La Salle’s egalitarian philosophy and principles should never be about running away from its inner-city neighborhood.
Hell yeah.

I mentioned to someone the other day that I felt lucky I went to (and still go to) school in a rough neighborhood.
I have a 15-20 minute drive from my place in Roxborough to campus. Just that drive alone really brings home the point about how many Americas there actually are. And it makes me always ask myself "What am I doing to help those who don't have what I am very lucky to have?"

When I went to graduate school at Notre Dame, they cautioned us how South Bend was a rough area. I think I openly giggled in orientation.
