I'm all for looking at the long-term, but seriously, it's not like any of these players have never picked up a basketball before. Can you imagine a Virginia Commonwealth or a Dayton crowd saying, "Yeah, well, 0-9, but ya gotta understand....they're learning a new system."? Not a chance. La Salle has fallen a long way down the basketball rabbit hole in its ability to attract decent recuits.
I'm hopeful that this time next year, things are looking better for us. But at this point, all this team has done this year is convince me NOT to shell out the $5-per-month extra for ESPN+ (which also seems to be having more than its share of problems.). I'll look at the boxscores and catch the occasional game that's accessible to me, but it's not all that interesting to me right now.

We have very little in common with those programs, other than conference affiliation. That's true...both of those teams have made it to the semifinal games of the A10 tournament in the past (Actually both have won the conference tourney at least once).

In one of their two bridge years between the now-Horizon and the A-10, Dayton had an 11 game losing streak. Four years later they started a run of six 20 win seasons over the next seven. I bet at no point during that run did they lament the 11 game losing streak.

NO Atlantic 10 program should lose all three of these games- Drexel, Grand Canyon, Lafayette.. I don’t care what coach is in the driver’s seat.
It doesn’t get any easier. I am looking at the conference play coming ahead and cringing. If we lose to Alabama A&M....

Teams on a path to make some ugly history here. Searching for hope, I think we have some guys that are in some early stages of development and can get better. I would like to think as a whole the team can get better. But, the only time all year I saw us sustain good team play was against Nova. Our veteran guards so disappointing to that point showed some game then contributing strongly to a good team effort. But the Bucknell game was back to the previous level of disappointing play. Play like we did against them... I don'y know who we beat.

They did a complete renovation of their workout facilities that ended the year before their run started and they renovated the arena itself a few years later. Would be nice to see a parallel there.

A new coach and group of mostly new players playing together. What do people expect. Jay has two rings and a team loaded with 4 and 5 star players and he loses to Furman. GCU is a good program. No shame there. Drexel pummeled us under G. They gear up for the Big 5 games like it is a super bowl. No shame there. Laf loss sucked but it was like game two.
Good news is we played well against Temple and Nova - two tough teams.
Let’s build on that and support our crew!

I'm expecting better play once the A10 season starts up. But we desperately need to get that first win under our belt. Need to play PENN just as tough as we played Temple and NOVA. I believe we turn the tide against PENN, and win 3 in a row going into A10 play.

This year was always going to be a write-off. Play the younger guys that you want to develop and keep with the program that want to play as part of this system. They should get the majority of the minutes from this point forward, and in a couple of years with lots of game experience under their belts in this system, it will be a much stronger team.

So you play Croswell, Kimbrough, Brookins, Clark. I assume Carter and Beatty as well. How many minutes do you give Pookie and Cheddi? 20 minutes for Pookie, 7 for Cheddi?

I'd spinkle in some Deas and Moultrie as well, but be quick to give any of the older guys the hook if they are not following the system and playing within their role. That sets a tone for coming years. This year is a wash and always was. We always said Ash was going to need two years to get his guys in and his system implemented.

Having Pookie play significant mins would still be helpful just from a different role imo. Let him focus on being what he is, a scorer and not someone who tries to initiate or facilitate the offense. Cheddi? Before the season I would’ve said 20-25 mins because he was a scorer and because of his experience. However, I’ve been completely unimpressed by him and would put him in the role of earning mins above 10 per game. Unfortunately, I don’t think that would really help get anything more from him because my impression is that he needs mins and shots to be effective.
